Brief History
• 824, when Parañaque became a part of Metropo
litan Manila or the National Capital Region.
Parañaque was later converted as the elevent
h city of Metro Manila on February 15, 1998,
and was chartered and urbanized by then Pres
ident Fidel V. Ramos during the celebration
of the city's 418th Founding Anniversary.

The Easter festivity unfolds at dawn around five o’clock with a procession
heralding the resurrection of Christ and His reunion with Mary. While the m

ourning with white one as the Osana, a hymn of praise and adoration endemic
to Parañaque, is sung. The Feast culminates with the celebration of a Holy
Mass followed by the simultaneous rendition in the different barangays of S
ayaw ng Pagbati also known to locals as “bati-bati” a “Welcome Dance” t
hat is also a Parañaque original.
