National Capital Region (NCR) also known as Metro Manila, is the center of Luzon and the

capital region of the Philippines and unlike the other 17 Philippine regions, NCR does not have

any provinces. It is bounded by the Cordillera Mountains on the east, Laguna de Bay on the

southeast, Central Luzon on the north and Southern Tagalog Region on the south.

The National Capital Region (NCR) is wholly inside the tropics, and the temperature range is

quite narrow due to its proximity to the equator. It is also regarded as the Philippines’ political,

economic, social, and cultural hub, as well as one of Southeast Asia’s most contemporary

metropolises.

 Metro Manila is the world’s shopping capital.

CALOOCAN CITY,- sometimes known as Kalookan, is a city and municipality in Metro


Manila, Philippines. The city is located immediately north of and next to Manila. It also has two
sections, Southern Caloocan and Northern Caloocan City

Caloocan was once a tiny neighborhood known as Aromahan or Libis Espina during the Spanish
rule. Caloocan’s initial residents were Chinese, mestizos, or Indians.

Las Piñas - is a Spanish term that means (The Pineapples). The city of Las Pinas is located on
the southern boundary of Metro Manila and Cavite. It is a fast-growing metropolitan metropolis
in the National Capital Region (NCR). This city is renowned by several nicknames, including the
Salt Center of Metro Manila and the City of Love. It’s also known as “The Bamboo Organ’s
Home.”

Makati City - it is a City in Metro Manila, Philippines, and the country’s financial center. It is
the Financial Capital of the Philippines and It’s famous for the Makati Central Business
District’s skyscrapers and shopping malls, as well as the Ayala Triangle Gardens, a park with
trees and sculptures. The Filipinas Heritage Library and craft collections reflect the country’s
history in the Ayala Museum. The Rizal Monument honors national hero José Rizal.

Malabon City - The name Malabon comes from the words “maraming labong” (a lot of bamboo
shoots). This was originally known as Tambobong and was created on May 21, 1599 as a
“Visita” of Tondo by the Augustinian friars. From 1627 until 1688, it was under this
governmental control.

Mandaluyong City – Mandaluyong was first known as a barrio of Sta. Ana de Sapa which was
part of the District of Paco, Province of Tondo. It was then named as by the Spaniards as San
Felipe Neri in honor of the Patron Saint of Rome.

Manila City – Manila the capital of the Philippines also known as the Pearl of the Orient has
been the principal city of the Philippines for four centuries and is the centre of its industrial
development as well as the international port of entry. Manila is an excellent hub for Philippine
culture, history, shopping, and nightlife and it is home to the oldest Chinatown in the world

Marikina City – Marikina, a lush valley bounded by mountain ranges and sliced by a river. The
City of Marikina is considered one of the wealthiest local government units in the Philippines.
Marikina is known as the “Shoe Capital of the Philippines” owing to its famous shoe industry.

Muntinlupa City – Officially the City of Muntinlupa, is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the
National Capital Region of the Philippines. It is given the nickname “Emerald City” by the
tourism establishment and also known as the “Gateway to Calabarzon” as it is the southernmost
city of the National Capital Region.

Navotas City – Navotas was originally a contiguous part of Malabon and was not separated
from it by a body of water. It is known as the Commercial Fishing Hub of the Philippines, for the
city has the third largest fish port in Asia and the largest in Southeast Asia.

Parañaque City - Parañaque earned the name Palanyag, taken from the term ‘palayag’, which
means “point of navigation”. Parañaque has long been noted for intricate hand embroidery,
which has continued as a household industry.

Pasay City – Pasay, also known as the travel city, is one of the most populated cities in Metro
Manila filled with busy markets, karaoke bars, shopping malls and world-class art galleries
Pasig City – Pasig City was once known primarily as an industrial center, but in recent years, it
has developed into a thriving residential-commercial community with countless business centers,
prominent schools, renowned restaurants, and lifestyle developments. Pasig was a part before of
Rizal province and served as its capital. And it’s Known as “The Green City” for its
environment-friendly initiatives led by its local government. The local government unit here is
serious about their sustainability efforts, including pushing bicycles as a means of transportation.

Quezon City – Quezon City is the largest city in the Philippines and is one of the constituent
cities of Metro Manila. Commonly called QC or Kyusi, It has become the hub of information
technology and its entertainment industry in the Philippines. Quezon is famous for coconut-
based cuisines, lambanog, longganisang Lucban, and pansit habhab.

San juan City – This city is known historically for the site of the first battle of the Katipunan,
the organization which led the 1896 Philippine Revolution against the Spanish Empire. Notable
landmarks today such as Pinaglabanan Shrine and heritage homes are located in this city

Taguig City – Taguig was one of the earliest known territories to have been Christianized. And
the word Taguig comes from the word “Taga-giik” the Spanish friars who arrived in Taguig
found it difficult to pronounce so it was called “Taguig”.

Valenzuela City – Valenzuela was named after Pio Valenzuela, a Filipino physician who was
among the leaders of the Katipunan and served as the towns first presidente municipal who was
appointed to serve as such. Lace Pulo which later evolved into Polo due to hispanicization of the
word. And Valenzuela is renowned as the “Northern Gateway to Metropolitan Manila” because
of the two main freeways that go through it: the MacArthur Highway and the North Luzon
Expressway.
