AGRI-TOURISM
• sometimes called agrotourism is the new concept of 20th
century that includes farm and agricultural related tourism
• includes leisurely activities in the rural areas that help a
person understand and appreagricultural tourism is a style of
travel that takes place on a farm or and usually offers the
opportunity to help with on-site farming or ranching tasks
during the visit. It entails a meaningful visit with a producer
of land-based products and services.ciate the land and the
people who live on it.
HISTORY
Pakistan - an agricultural country and its agro-fields are covered
with crops mostly all year-long with agronomic crops, vegetable
fields, wheat and rice fields, orchids and herbal plants.
• Agriculture is a vital sector of Pakistan's economy and
accounted for 25.9 percent of GDP in 1999-2000, according to
government estimates. The sector directly supports three-
quarters of the country's population, employs half the labor
force, and contributes a large share of foreign exhange
earnings.
• Pakistani rural areas have diverse culture, traditions and
festivities. Promoting agri-tourism can help rural areas of
Pakistan become important tourist spots and can boost
economic activities in rural settings which will ultimately help
farmers to earn more income. According to the World Travel
& Tourism Council, Pakistan’s travel and tourism industry has
contributed more than 7 percent to GDP with the worth of
PKR 2.4 billion in 2018. It includes foreign and domestic
travel and tourism spending amounting to Rs. 115 billion and
its contribution in creating 3,850 employment opportunities
in the country.
Agri-Tourism Development Corporation of
Pakistan or ATDCP
• a non-government, non-profitable organization having aims connecting people
through food, farms and education working to promote the idea of Agri-tourism
in Pakistan. ATDCP educate the consumer about organic, healthy life style,
awareness about food from “farm to dining table” and introducing agri-tourism
and entertainment farming to explore the beauty of agri fields and farm fresh
feelings
• organizes agricultural events, Agri-field trips and field activities, Agri-field picnic
party for school kids and community to explore agri-tourism ideas in Pakistan
• Tariq Tanveer is the CEO and founder of the Agri-Tourism Development
Corporation of Pakistan

• No system for the dirt disintegration
• Water shortage
• Old techniques for development and reaping

RECOMMENDATIONS
• Infertile land should be treated using some environmentally
friendly materials
• Expantion of irrigation facilities, water management practices
and knowledgeable farming practices to increase agricultural
output
• Construction of more dams on Indus, Jehlum and Chenab
rivers
• Promotion of agri-tourism through tour packages
• Soft loans to farmers
• Arrangement of projects to attract tourists
