The DUEL and THROTTLE in Malaysia

INTRODUCTION

“Road bully” is one of the issue which have been


talked among Malaysians since long time ago.

Despite other cases, this issue needs to be given


attention because of its potential of bringing
harm to the public.
THE ROAD BULLIES
• They commit dangerous acts or stunts on the
road;
• Violate traffic rules and give trouble to other
road users;
• Stereotype labeling for the local road bullies
are “mat rempit”;
• Generally, they become the bullies when they
are experiencing emotional outbursts.
THE ROAD RAGE
• Hostile and dangerous acts pulled on the road.

• One commits the stunts; and the other road users


might respond the same way negatively, only to
make the scene become more dangerous to
themselves and the others.

• Not only on-road stunts, road rage also includes


man-to-man assaults and the destroying of
properties.
TYPES OF ROAD BULLY

The
DECENT and INDECENT
ROAD BULLY
DECENT ROAD BULLY
• People that are more polite that commit foul.
• Doesn’t make things go worst
• Example: change line
without indication,
illegal races, hit
the red light, etc.
INDECENT ROAD BULLY
• Rude kind of person
• Does not care about other road users
• Can make situation become worst
• Example: illegal car racers who show indecent
signs if they are honked at, drivers who install
halogen and super-concocted lights to blind
oncoming drivers or those in front of them,
etc
CAUSES OF ROAD BULLY
1 Pure Anger
- can’t control their emotion or pressure
- exp: just like simple actions like not
showing gratitude actions after a
driver has been let pass first through
a lane can trigger serious road rage
response that is likely to lead to
serious consequences for all involved
in the situation
2 Mental Illness
- called as intermittent explosive disorder

(IED)
- uncontrolled explosives outburst of
behavior
- exp: throwing object, breaking things,
inflicting physical term, etc
WAYS TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEM
Individually:
1 get some rest and enough sleep.
- physical exhaustion contributes to mental
fatigue and short tempered.
- eight hours is recommended for sleep.
2 turn down the bass.
- avoid from hearing aggressive music and any
arguments whiles on driving.
- listen to the pleasurable music and some
motivational audio tapes or CDs.
3 Individual have to remind themselves about the effects of road
rage.
- road rage can be deadly.
- should remind themselves the consequences of the road rage.
- by remember the beloved person.

4 Take regular breaks.


- it is when on the long trip.
- the drivers will get bored and also tired.
Government efforts:
1 Closed- circuit television (CCTV) to be placed at
the strategic places.
- records all movement of traffic and punish the
drivers that have been caught red-handed.

2 The enforcer such as RTD and police has to be


increased in terms of beat and penalization.
- to remind the society on the consequences of
breaking the law.
- people will be scared to breake the law, while
on the road.
3 The curriculum and education regarding the
safety, health, religion or, moral have to be
implement at all level especially school.
- change the moral values have to start from
the beginning.
- activities such as campaign of road safety,
moral subjects and even the club regarding the
road awareness also can be create.
THE LATEST CASE
• Murder of a driver in Sydney, Australia
• Mohd Shah Saemin, 43, is a Malaysian before
becoming Australian citizen officially since 1996
and began working with the Malaysian consulate
three years ago
• Scene happened near his home in Marion Street,
Leichhardt where he died of fatal stab wound to
the heart
• Australian police linked the case to a possibile road
rage incident and no arrests have been made
although they are still looking for the two suspects.
CONCLUSION
• The effects are bad and harmful. Some scenes might affect
some people badly and they can even become traumatic

• The issue displays the way we Malaysians behave; so


individual efforts must be taken to overcome this problem
first.

• With the strong regulations and drops in number of cases,


the number of associated crimes can decrease as well and
make the country a bit safer than before
