INTRODUCTION

 Floods are the most frequent natural disasters around the


globe. With climate change, fl oods become more and more
frequent.

 Given Malaysia's geographical location, most fl oods that


occur are a natural result of cyclical  monsoons during the
local tropical wet season that are characterized by heavy
and regular rainfall from roughly October to March.
AIM & OBJECTIVE

Aim: To identify an inundated area using Normalized


Diff erence Water Index (NDWI) at Kulim Kedah on Sentinel 2
data.

Objectives:

i. To characterize the inundated area using NDWI


parameter from Sentinel data on Kulim, Kedah

ii. To compare the NDWI value before and af ter fl ood on


study area
STUDY AREA

The Kulim District is a district and town in the state of


Kedah, Malaysia. It is located on the southeast of Kedah,
bordering Penang. The town of Kulim, a mere 27  km (17 mi)
east of Penang's capital city,  George Town, also forms part
of Greater Penang, Malaysia's second largest conurbation
