AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY

 Establishment of the Cultural Center of the


Philippines (CCP) in 1969 -promotion of Philippine
heritage, culture, and arts.
 1945 the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) opened and
began serving the public. The hospital was established not
only to treat patients but also to provide clinical
instruction for students of the college.
 Manila Summit in 1966–under Marcos Administration,
the country hosted the Manila Summit. This conference
aimed to resolve the Vietnam War, restoration of peace,
and promotion of economic stability and development
throughout the Asia-Pacific Region.

 Blessed Pope Paul VI on November 27, 1970– blessed


Pope Paul VI travelled to the Philippines, whereas
attended by 63.2 Million faithful Filipino Catholic. It
marked the first time the head of the catholic church be
visited the country, officiated the first Papal Mass in the
Far East at the Manila Cathedral, as well as an open-air
mass at Rizal Park.
 Establishment of Philippine International
Convention Center in Mid 1970s – this center made
use as hotels, and even the hosting of international
status of the country. This policy generally continued
even through 1980s, when the world was experiencing
stagflation, an international debt crisis, and high
increase interest rates .
 Upper Pampanga River Project, Angat multipurpose
power and irrigation project and the Magat River Project-
Luzon major irrigation systems and hydroelectric power
plants were built. These projects firmed up the role of
Central Luzon and the Cagayan Valley in the Green
Revolution of the 1970s.
 Bagong Lipunan Improvement of Sites and Services
(BLISS) projects- To address the influx of people
migrating to urban centers from the countryside which
gave birth to a myriad of other problems, such as
violence, social unrest, environmental degradation
and limited housing provision,
President Marcos came up with
the Bagong Lipunan Improvement
of Sites and Services (BLISS) projects
in Manila and in the rural areas to
house the country’s poorest of the
poor. A total of 230,000 housing units
were constructed from 1975 to 1985
 Philippine Heart Center 1975 - Originally named as
Philippine Heart Center for Asia , the Philippine Heart
Center in Quezon City  was established through
Presidential Decree No. 673 issued by President
Ferdinand E. Marcos in 1975. Inaugurated on February
14, 1975.
 Lung Center of the Philippines - Under Presidential
Decree No. 1823 by President Ferdinand Marcos, the
Lung Center of the Philippines was established on
January 16, 1981 to provide health care that specifically
targets lung and pulmonary disease. It is located in
Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
 National Kidney Transplant Institute- Formerly known
as the National Kidney Foundation of the Philippines,
the institute was established on January 16, 1981 as
tertiary referral hospital that also offers voluntary blood
services. Located in Quezon City, the 2-storey institute
is constructed of three buildings (Main, Annex and
Dialysis Center) connected to each other.
 San Juanico Bridge- A Part of the Pan-Philippine Highway, the San
Juanico Bridge stretches from Samar to Leyte across the San Juanico Strait
in the Philippines. Its longest length is a steel girder viaduct built on
reinforced concrete piers, and its main span is of an arch-shaped truss
design. With a total length of 2.16 kilometers (1.34 mi), it is the longest
bridge in the Philippines spanning a body of seawater. Construction
commenced in 1969 over San Juanico Strait from Cabalawan, Tacloban  
City to the municipality of Santa Rita, Samar, with completion in 1973.
 LRT Line 1 Rolling Stock from 1984 - 2021 - On July 12,
1980, President Ferdinand Marcos created the LRTA and construction
of the line began the following year. With the opening of its first
segment on December 1, 1984, it became the first rapid transit service
in Southeast Asia.
 The Light Rail Transit Line 1 commonly referred to as LRT Line 1 or
LRT-1 is a light rapid transit system line in Metro Manila, Philippines,
operated by Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) and owned by the
Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) as part of the Manila Light Rail
Transit System.
