Provides basic speciality services in general medicine, pead, surgery, OBG. Primary health centre level Covers about 30,000 (20,000 in hilly, desert & difficult terrains) or more popolation. Referral unit for 6 sub centres. Each PHC with a capacity of 4-6 beds manned by one MO, two health assistants, & the health worker & supporting staff. Many rural dispensaries been upgraded to create PHC Primary health care is provided through Govt operated PHC’s at village & town levels. Sub centre level Most peripheral point between PHC & community. Manned by one male & female multi purpose health worker. One sub centre for 5000 population.
