The sense organs and their care
Our body is made of up of five sense organs: Eye, nose,
ear, tongue and skin. These organs work together.

EYES: These are the sense organs of sight with the help
of which we are able to see the world around us. Each
eyeball is safely set in a deep boney socket and is further
protected by the eyelids and the eyelashes. These help
to keep dust and dirt out of our eyes. The colored circle
in the eye is the iris. The pupil which looks like a black
spot is actually an opening through which light enters.
The eyes are joined to the brain with the help of optic
nerve.
Care Of Eyes
• Our eye should be protected from dirt, dust and smoke.
• We should avoid strong light. Never look directly at sun. It strains the
eyes.
• We should not watch TV closely and for a long time.
• We should not read while lying down on bed. This tires the eyes.
• We should not read in dim light or glaring light.
• We should eat fruit and vegetables frequently which contain Vitamin
A.
• If we have any disease or some problems in the eyes, we should consult
an ophthalmologist
EARS: We hear the sounds around us with our ears. They convey
different kinds of sounds to our brain. Ears gives the sense of hearing.

Care Of Ears
• We should not poke our ears with a pin or any foreign objects. It may
injure the ear drum inside or it may cause an infection of the ear canal.
• We should not blow the nose very hard because this may damage our
ears.
• We should consult a doctor for every case of an earache. A nose or
throat infection can also cause ear trouble. An infection in the ear may
cause deafness.
