WHOLENESS IS

HOLINESS

WHAT DOES “WHOLENESS IS
HOLINESS” MEAN?
• Wholeness refers to being whole or complete, when all the right parts are functioning in the
appropriate way. The body, mind, and spirit are working together. To be whole is to
experience health and well-being, to flourish psychologically, physically, emotionally, and
spiritually. (Wholeness & Holiness)
• Holiness is the state or quality of being holy, sacred, or sanctified. It is what happens when
God loves a person an claims them as one of God’s own people. When we are holy, we
become more Christ-like as our relationship with God grows and deepens. (Wholeness &
Holiness)
• I believe that wholeness is holiness means that to be holy one must be whole or vice versa.
Whole and holiness go hand and hand because becoming holy can make someone whole.
When we become whole we become holy.
WHAT IS SPIRITUAL MATURITY?
• The gradual process of developing healthy and life-giving ways of relating one to oneself,
others, and the environment.
• Spiritual maturity is achieved through becoming more like Jesus.
• Spiritual maturity is an ongoing process that will continue throughout one’s life
• As we go through experiences in life it helps us to grow spiritually.
• When one grows closer to Christ, they become more spiritually mature.
• We become spiritually mature when we accept Jesus Christ as our savior.
WHOLENESS IS HOLINESS &
SPIRITUAL MATURITY
• To become whole one must become holy, and during spiritual maturity people are finding
there way to become whole so they can reach the level of holiness that they want.
• As people grow spiritually, they are closer and closer to becoming whole and holy.
• Spiritual maturity best fits the theme of wholeness is holiness by the process that needs to be
taken to become spiritually mature.
• During that process people will also be in the process of becoming whole to become holy.
HOW DOES PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
PREPARE ONE FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH?
• Like Erikson’s model of psychosocial development prepares us for each stage of life, it also prepares one for spiritual growth
• Humans go through many stages that help us develop different relationships, which in turn prepares us to develop our
relationship with God
• When we go through these stages of psychosocial development it is preparing us for a new stage towards spiritual growth
• Each psychosocial stage is a stage for spiritual growth
• Trust vs Mistrust (Hope)
• Autonomy vs shame (will)
• Initiative vs guilt (purpose)
• Industry vs inferiority (competency)
• Ego identity vs role confusion (Fidelity)
• Intimacy vs isolation (Love)
• Generativity vs stagnation (care)
• Ego integrity vs despair (wisdom)
PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
• I have been through plenty of stages that have helped me to develop spiritual maturity
• Each stage that I have been through has drawn me closer to Jesus Christ
• I have also been through many experiences in life that has also helped me to become more
spiritually mature
• My growth during my life has helped me in more ways than I could have ever imagined
• I did not feel whole until I let God into my life, and when I did, I felt closer to him more
than ever and my spirit felt full.
