My Cultural Diversity

I am from the Navajo Nation:
My whole family was born and raised on the
Navajo reservation.
Navajo History:
Our land was taken and we were forsed to move and expected to live (surive) a
foreign life.
Navajo History:
The language the we were forbidden to speak saved a whole nation.
We still to this day keep our traditions and
old teaching alive.
I was born during desert storm war.
• That is why I was gifted the a Navajo name
“bah” which mean a Female war warrior.
• My full name is Kerriebah Bedonie.
• My Native name is Buffalowoman.
My religious belief is N.A.C.
N.A.C. is Native American Church
Where we run prays and songs in all night ceremonies.

I am a student, teacher, dancer, story teller,
daughter, older sister, etc.
• I go to school at college of southern Nevada.
• I teach at Las Vegas Paiute child development center.
• I dance at powwows and teach children how to dance at the
Las Vegas Indian center.
• I listen to elders stories and pass them down to the younger
generation.
• I am the daughter of Antoinette and Alonzo Bedonie.
• I the eldest sister of 3 siblings.
• To many of my younger family members I am a role model and
a leader and someone who they know will always support
them.
Me:
• I am full-blooded Navajo
• I am from the tangle people
clan. Born for the red house
people clan.
• I was adopted into the Paiute
nation by Leroy Spotted eagle
who became my grandfather.
• I am nothing with out my
family.
• I understand who I am by my
family and culture history.
Greatest words I live by:
• You need to find a balance between your
traditional word and the western world. If you
don’t you will lose one or the other even both.
• Remember your people and where you are
from and who you are.
• Learn as much as you can so that you will be
able to survive and live in the western world.

• Belief System: close to polytheism
• Activity: Navajo weaving, pottery making, basket weaving, wool
spinning, story telling.
• Contributions: Navajo code talkers, coal mines, uranium mines, land,
oil, water
• History: the long walk, fort sumner, boarding school, creations stories.
• Holiday: Navajo code talker day
• Read aloud literature: How the stars fell into the sky, Monster Slayer,
Turquoise Boy, Spiderwoman
• Literature recommend: The Book of The Navajo, Navajo Long Walk,
Navajo Sacred Wisdom the circle of the spirit.
