ABSTRACT
 Buildings have significant design and construction
challenges . Advanced technology in construction
provides solutions to these challenges and exceeds
project requirements.
 This project relates the construction of apartment

building using ferro sand(copper slag), ferro cement

and aggregate which is extracted from sterlite
industry in tutucorin,tamil nadu
OBJECTIVE
 The main objective is to use of recyclable
materials which is extracted from industries
as listed below
Ferro sand – Sterlite industry
Membrane doors - Wooden doors
Fly ash

 Ferro sand occurred as by product of copper

production( Waste in manufacture of copper).
SPECIFICATIONS
 Total land area -4000 sq.ft
 Plinth area -2492.78 sq.ft
 G+6 floors
 4*4 residential apartment
 28 residential flats
MATIRIAL USED
 FERRO SAND (COPPER SLAG)
 FERRO CEMENT
 UPVC WINDOWS
 MEMBRANE DOORS
 HOLLOW BRICKS
 PVC PIPES(RUBBER TWIST)
 BOOSTER PUMPS
 SYNTAX IN SUMPS & SEPTIC TANK
COPPER SLAG(FERRO SAND)
 By product of copper (waste extracted from copper manufacturing)
 Nearest availablity in Tutucorin Sterlite Industry Limited
 Replacement of RIVER SAND, M SAND
 Cost is very low
 Cost per unit Rs.1400-1700

UPVC WINDOWS
These windows are durable and long lasting required very little
maintanence over 10 -15 years
 Water proof,Sound proof
 Cost is low 4600-5000 for 2 panels(3*4 feet)
FLY ASH BRICKS
 It is a building material specifically masonry
building masonry units ,cured for 24 hours in
steam bath.
 It saves mercury pollution and reduces 20% of

loss of tradition clay bricks.

 Components of Fly ash -62%
Stone dust -23%
Gypsum -6%
Lime -10%
BOOSTING PUMPS
 These are small pumps placed near overhead tank.
 These pumps are used to boost up the water at
equal speed.

SPIGOTTED PVC PIPES

 These pipes are in made with rubber thread which
is in separate used to connect two pipes with the
precence of Socket and Spigot joints.
 Reusable.
 Repair works and maintanence can be done easily.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

 Design of slab
1). One way slab
2). Two way slab
 Design of beam
 Design of column
 Design of footing
 Design of stair case
Load calculation

Load:
Self-weight of slab = 0.12 x 25 = 3 KN/m2
Live load = 0.75 KN/m2
Floor finish = 1KN/m2
----------------------
Total load = 4.75 KN/m2

Wu = 4.75x 1.5 = 7.125KN/m 2

Area of reinforcement
 Main bars-10mm Ø bars @ 300mm c/c
in Shorter Span

 Distributors- 6mm Ø bars @ 200 mm

c/c in Longer direction
ONE WAY SLAB
Design of two way slab
Room size = 6.0mx5.0m
Ly/lx = 6.0/2.5 = 2.4>2
Hence it is one way slab
d = Span/ 26
= 2500/26
= 96mm
say d = 100mm
Provide overall depth D =100+15+5
D = 120 mm
TWO WAY SLAB
Design of t beam
 BEAM DETAILS:
 clear span of beam=2.83m=2830mm
 Assume the overall depth as clear span /10
 D=2830/10=283mm=290mm
 Assume an effective cover of 25mm
 Effective depth,d=290-25=265mm
 Assume breath of the beam=230mm
DESIGN OF BEAM
Design of column
 DESIGN OF COLUMN
 Effective length of column , le = 2.15m
 least lateral dimension of column =300mm
 Slenderness ratio , Leff / D = 2150/300 = 7.16<12
 The column is short column
 Design load,Pu =936.42 x 15 = 1404 KN
 Now the gross area required may be determined by equation the
strength of column to the
 applied



 load(design load)
 0.4 x fck x Ac + 0.67 x fy x Asc = Pu
 0.4 x 20 x 0.99Ag + 0.67 x 415 x 804.25 = 1404
 Ag = 28057.77mm2
