What is Shirk
• Shirk, (Arabic: “making a partner [of
someone]”)
• Refers to polytheism, assigning
partners to God.
• In Islamic law, those who commit Shirk
are seen as Kufr, those who do not
believe, their legal rights are suspended
and they are ousted from society.
• It is said that the sin of Shirk will not
be forgiven if a person dies before
repenting.
Have true faith in Allah and never associate
partners to Him: if anyone associate partners
to Allah, as if he had fallen from the sky and
the birds snatched him away or the wind had
thrown him into a far-distant place.
Types of Shirk
• Major Shirk
• Shirk ad-Du’aa (The
Shirk of Invocation)
• Shirk at–Taa’ah (The

What is Bid’ah
• Bid’ah is known as innovation—not
any innovation in science or society
but an innovation in Islam.
• Any addition to religion which was
not sanctioned by the Quran or goes
against the teachings of Islam is
known as Bid’ah.
• There are some matters in Islam which
are allowable to change, such as
worldly matters or customs.
“Then We put you on the (right) Way of
Religion: so follow that (Way), and follow not
the desires of those who know not.”
Types of Bid’ah
• Innovation in Islam is
prohibited and two types
of Bid’ah have been
identified.
• Bid’at-e-I’tiqaadi
(Innovation in
Belief)
• Bid’at-e-Amali
(Innovation in
Action)
