Definition

Intelligence is the ability to think.


(According to: Terman).
  The aggregate or global capacity of an individual to
act purposefully, to think rationally and to deal
effectively with the environment.
(According to: David Wechsler).
Types of Intelligence Test
French Psychologist, Alfred Binet is the father of the
intelligence test.
Based on the number of individuals to be tested, it is
classified as:
 Individual Intelligence Tests: This test can be
administrated only one person at a time. It can be
assessed by:
 Verbal Method.
 Non- Verbal.

 Group Intelligence Test: These types of test can be


administered to the group of people on a same time. It
was first used in America during the First World War for
the selection of soldiers in large number, It is also of
two types:
 Verbal
 Non-Verbal.
Standford Binet Test

The first edition of the stand fords- Binet was


published in 1916. Standford Binet (1965) intelligence test
is a new version of Binet Simon test. In 1905 two French
Psychologist Binet and Simon developed this intelligences
test. After that it was modified by American Psychologist
Termon with Binet at Stand ford University for current use
of intelligence assessment. In 1986 it came to know as
Stand ford Binet test.

is based in the schooling process to assess
intelligence. It continuously and efficiently assesses
all levels of ability in individuals with a broader range
and can be used as early as 2 years of age to 85years
in age. It is also capable of measuring multiple
dimensions of abilities.

Definition

Aptitude test refers to those qualities characterizing a


person’s way of behavior which serve to indicate how
well he can learn to meet and solve certain specified
kinds of problems.

USES OF APTITUDE TEST
Admissions: Aptitude tests can be used in admitting
candidates for various types of professional training such as
engineering, medicine and training etc.

Guidance. Aptitude test can be used for the purpose of


guidance in selecting subjects for studying in educational
institutions.

Selection for jobs: The employer can use aptitude test


for selecting persons for jobs.

Scholastic aptitude test: Scholastic aptitude tests are


helpful in giving educational and vocational guidance to
students.
PURPOSE OF APTITUDE TEST

Aptitude tests are made by analyzing the particular


occupation or activity for which aptitude is to be
measured for example:
 Art Aptitude Test; Clerical Aptitude Test; Manual
Aptitude Test; Mechanical Aptitude Test; Medical
Aptitude Test; Musical Aptitude Test; Scholarly
Aptitude Test; Scientific Aptitude Test; Teachers
Aptitude Test.
IMPORTANCE

Aptitude test can provide information that helps in


determining the:
 Learning readiness.
 Individualizing instructions.
 Organizing classroom groups.
 Identifying underachievers
