LESSON PLAN in SCIENCE V

8:50-9:40-DAHLIA
9:40-10:30-HYACINTH
11:10-12:00-TULIPS
12:40-1:30-MARIGOLD

I. Objectives:
A. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate understanding of motion in terms of distance and time.
B. Performance Standard
The learners should be able to propose an unusual tool or device using electromagnet that
is useful for home school or community.
C. Learning Competency/ Objective
Identify types of motion
S5FE-IIIb-2
II Subject Matter:
Identifying the Types of Motion
A. Concepts:
Motion
- motion is the change in position of an object with respect to its surroundings in each interval of
time.
- Motion is movement.
- Motion always follows a path.
- Motion has speed, which is related to how far something goes (distance) and how long it
takes (time).
B. Materials:
PowerPoint Presentation, worksheets
C. References:
1. Textbook pages
1. Teacher’s guide Curriculum Guide p. 32

D. Other Learning Resources

Video clippings, pictures, charts, activity cards
E. Process Skills
observing, describing, analyzing, communicating, demonstrating
F. Values Integration
Cooperation
G. Other Learning Resources
Activity sheet, PowerPoint presentation
III. Learning Tasks
Preliminaries:
1.Prayer
2.Reminder of the classroom health and safety protocols
3.Checking of attendance
4.Quick “Kumustahan”
5.Singing of “Science Song”
6.Drill
Read the following words:
1. Gravity
2. Motion
3. Inclined Plane
4. Pushing Force
5. Pulling Force
1. Elicit
Give an example of plants found in an estuary?
How about animals found in estuaries and intertidal zones?

2. Engage
Balance a ball on the table.

Is the ball moving?

How could we be able to move the ball? What do we need to do?

3. Explore
A. Activity Proper: Video-Based Instruction
https://youtu.be/DqksorBxSKM
I. Problem: What are the different types of motion?
II. Materials: video about the types of motion
III. Procedure:
1. Watch and listen to the video presentation.
2. Write down important details about the topic presented in the video.
IV. Data Presentation

Types of Motion Description

V. Conclusion
I learned that

4. Explain
Learners share their observations and other findings of the activity.
The teacher processes the group activity’s outputs based on their presentation, prevents
misconceptions, and guides conceptualizations.
1. Peer sharing of answers
2. Checking of worksheets
3. Verifying the results by replaying the video and pause in each type of motion
5. Elaborate

A. The teacher leads the pupils to summarize their answers in the table
Types of Motion Description

1. rectilinear motion Movement of an object along a straight line

2. circular motion Object moves around a fixed point such that

its distance from the center remains the
same

3. periodic motion Motion that repeats itself alter definite time

intervals

4. Rolling motion Combination of rectilinear motion and

circular motion
B. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson. What
are the types of motion?
Children will enumerate their output. Expected
answers:
1. Rectilinear Motion – the movement of the object along a straight line.
2. Circular Motion – object moves around a fixed point such that its distance from the
center remains the same
3. Periodic Motion – motion that repeats itself alter definite time intervals
4. Rolling Motion – combination of rectilinear motion and circular motion.

6. Evaluate:

Direction: Identify the types of motion in each activity.

1. walking
2. writing on the blackboard
3. earth moving around the sun
4. ball moving on a ground
5. players playing on a football ground

7. Extend
Assignment:

Make a design of an amusement park with at least four different rides. For
each ride include the different types of motion. Write a reflection on how the
amusement park highlights the material discussed in the lesson.
V. Remarks:
