HONOURS
 He was awarded BA Degree by research (later called
PhD) in March 1916.
 He became one of the youngest Fellows of the Royal

Society and only the second Indian member


 He becomes first Indian to be elected a Fellow of Trinity

College, Cambridge.
CONTRIBUTIONS
In 1911 Ramanujan published the first of his papers
in the Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society.
Ramanujan’s knowledge of mathematics (most of
which he had worked out for himself) was startling.
Although he was almost completely unaware of
modern developments in mathematics, his mastery
of continued fractions was unequaled by any living
mathematician.
