SDG AND SOCIAL BUSINESS
Social Business as defined by the Nobel peace prize laureate professor Muhammad
Yunus is “a business which is created and designed to address social problem and is a
non-loss and non-dividend company”.
As we know there are there are 17 SDG’s and no less than 169 associated targets. So
achieving these targets can be challenging and will require the efforts of government
business and third sector actors. However social enterprises also have a potentially
crucial role to play in achievement of these global objectives.
In a survey conducted by RAUN on 30 Social Businesses from different parts of the
world. A majority of them (22/30) cover " Sustainable Consumption and Production" as
one of their goals.
A possible explanation for this can be that SCP is at the core of the social business
model.
