Prevention
and Control
Route of human-to-human transmission of 2019-
nCoV ARD is either via respiratory droplets or
contact
DROPLET TRANSMISSION
Occurs when one sneezes, coughs
contagious droplets from infected person can
travel in air and contact another person’s
conjunctiva, mouth or nasal mucosa
Microorganisms are relatively large and travel
only short distances (6ft/2 meters)
Droplets may linger on surfaces for long periods of
time
Any person who is in close
contact (within 1 meter) with
someone who has respiratory
symptoms (e.g., sneezing,
coughing, etc.) is at risk of
being exposed to potentially
infective respiratory droplets.
