The Wonders of the

Modern World

Student: Mónica Benavides M.

The wonders of the modern world are seven. The Taj Mahal in
India, Petra in Jordan, The Great Wall of China, Chichen Itza in
Mexico, Macchu Picchu in Peru, Coliseum in Rome and Christ
the Redeemer in Brazil. They are all incredibly beautiful but I
love three: Macchu Picchu, The Great Wall and The Taj Mahal.

Macchu Picchu is considered a masterpiece of architecture and

engineering, its constructions with architectural and landscape
characteristics, the mystery that surrounds it, have made it one
of the most fascinating tourist destinations in the entire world.
Machu Picchu is one of the most famous tourist attractions in
all of South America
The Great Wall of China is the longest structure ever built by
man. Much of the Great Wall is reputed to be the largest
cemetery in the world, because approximately 10 million workers
died during its construction, which is why it is considered as the
largest pantheon in the world.

The Taj Mahal is considered to be the most beautiful mausoleum

in the whole world. It was built by a Muslim Emperor in honor of
his wife who died in childbirth. It is also considered the most
beautiful example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines
elements of Islamic, Persian, Indian and even Turkish
architecture.

So we can say that Machu Picchu is an older construction than

the Taj Mahal but the Great Wall of China is the oldest of the two.
