Question No. 1
1. Upon listening to the song/jingle, how did you feel? How did it affect you? As a voter,
what message did you get? What image did the leader give you?

After listening to the jingle campaign of Grace Poe, we can tell that she has an inspiring vision for the
Filipinos. It gives off the feeling of being encouraged and hopeful about the situations we are facing.
She motivates us to engage with her vision that will create a better future for our country. She
emphasized the "gobyernong may puso," where she believes no one should be left behind and
everyone must help each other. It affected us in a way that she could have easily had our vote because
of her motivating and sincere campaign jingle which gave highlight to problems in our country such as
poverty, violence, unemployment, transportation and religion. As voters, the proceeding lines of the
jingle states that it is a good thing that Grace Poe is now here. She will be a part of the government
that will help us grow and that we are not alone because we are in this together. Her campaign jingle
can greatly leave an impact to anyone especially if you are one of those people who dreams of living a
life without hunger and crime. Grace Poe’s image gave off a neat and squeaky clean vibe hence the
line “malinis ang pangalan”. Her image gives off a persuasive kind of leader who has a great love for
her country and people.

Question No. 2
2. How can you relate the song/jingle to the concepts discussed in class? Are they related to
the concepts of politics and governance? If yes, in what way/s? What view on politics is evident in
the lyrics or song in general? Pick two (2) lines or stanzas from the song/jingle and explain how
they manifest concepts discussed in class.

The song/jingle can be related to the concept of politics and governance in a way that the
song was made for engaging in political affairs such as campaigning for the elections and
that the song has lyrics which can be interpreted as involving the ability make and carry out
decisions. The concept of politics as a vocation, as an art of government, and as public
affairs. The lines, Walang iwanan kay Grace Poe Taglay ang galing at puso May
malasakit sa kapwa, Isusulong bawat pamilya lines can be related to the concept of
politics as a vocation- it depicts that she serves the people's interests over her own. She has
a devotion for the Filipino people by dedicating her life to the service of a cause and all
means. Samahan natin si Grace Poe / Sabayan natin si Grace Poe / Walang aayos sa
Pilipinas, / kundi tayo—tayo mismo! This can be related to people's participation as it
suggest that with the participation of the people themselves it will help the country to be a
better one.

Question No. 3
3. After answering some questions about your assigned song/jingle, listen to two other campaign
jingles. What two other jingles did you watch or listen to? What central theme, if any, is evident
or common in the three jingles? What common life experiences and events, if any, do they
present? As a voter, what striking line/s from any of these three songs gave you a positive
perspective on the concepts of politics and governance?

The two other jingles we have watched is Jejomar Binay and Miram Defensor Santiago.
Leading the country towards its development by prioritizing public affairs is the central theme
evident in the three jingles we have watched. They all presented certain situations like lack of
access to education, public health crisis, unemployment, poverty, economic crisis, disasters,
transportation problems, ancestral land rights, etc which are common problems our nation is
facing. "AANGAT TAYO SA GALING NG PILIPINO" striked us the most. Having a wise
political representative is not the only way to have a successful country. The people are also
part of it because we participate in making our country better specially when electing political
candidates. The success of a country will always be in the hands of the masses, the
politicians are just an instrument to lead the nation towards success. Only the mass, the
Filipino people, have the power to elect and to oust a leader.
