My visit to Frankfurt for the 2014 Auto

Show was great. This was the 65th edition
of the fair. It took place from September
25th to October 2nd in Hanover, Germany.

I arrived in Germany on Tuesday, 23rd of

September, two days before the start of the
event. I flew from New York to Frankurt. I
enjoyed the flight a lot.

I arrived at the exhibition center on

Wednesday, which was the first day of the
show. There were outdoor and indoor
exhibitions and lot of visitors.

I first visited the electric cars pavilion.

There were several exhibitions by different
car makers. I enjoyed them all.
The place was full of people because the
cars were really amazing.

A few days later, I attended a presentation

about the cars of the future. The exhibitors
showed a 3D clip about new technologies in
car manufacturing. These exhibition was
very interesting too. They even had a see-
through model car made in glass.

Before the end of the show, I had the

opportunity to do a drive test of a very
modern vehicle.

I traveled with a group of visitors to a nearby

circuit. We chose our favorite car and drove
along the circuit for several minutes. I felt
like a real race pilot!

Before leaving Germany, I had to try the

local food: sausages, of course! During the
last day of the show, I visited one of the local
restaurants. I ordered the Frankfurter
Würstchen which means “The little
Frankfurt saugage” It was absolutely
delicious! I also had a sauerkraut (cabbage
in vinegar) and a beer with it. These are the
usual sides that German people eat with
sausage.

 MEDELLIN

Medellín is the capital of the mountainous

province of Antioquia in Colombia. It is
nicknamed the "City of Eternal Spring" for its
mild climate and hosts the famous annual
Flower Fair. The modern Metrocable connects
the city with the surrounding neighborhoods
and has views of the Aburrá Valley below.
Sculptures by Fernando Botero decorate the
Plaza Botero in the center of the city, while the
Museum of Antioquia exhibits more works by
the Colombian artist.
 TYPICAL FOOD

The Gastronomy of Antioquia or Antioquia is the typical and

traditional gastronomy that is practiced in the department
of Antioquia, Colombia. It is an essential part of the
"regional identity" and by extension of its culture is also
practiced throughout the so-called paisa region of
Colombia or Eje Cafetero. Today, part of the gastronomy of
Antioquia is practiced in other regions of the country, and it
is also influenced by the rest of the gastronomy of
Colombia.
Bandeja paisa: In this presentation the beans are served
separately, but they usually come in the main dish.
 FLOWERS FAIR

The Flower Fair is a traditional festive mass event that is celebrated

every year in the city of Medellín, Colombia.
This festival is the most emblematic celebration of the city, and it is a
Raizal, cultural and historical icon, such as, for example, the Rio
Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the October Festival (Oktoberfest) in Bavaria,
Germany, or Also in Colombia the Manizales Fair, the Barranquilla
Carnival, the Cali Fair or the Black and White Carnival in the city of San
Juan de Pasto.
The carnival atmosphere that Medellín lives during these days offers a
wide diversity of events and shows, not all related to flowers, but all
the merrymaking bears that general name of "Feria de las flores" since
flowers are the main setting of festivities, while offering the most
striking and beautiful shows and scenes, also unique in the world.
 OLD CARS PARADE

The Parade of Classic and Antique Cars is a Traveling Museum where collectible cars travel and
adorn the streets of Medellín, giving the opportunity to enjoy the color, elegance, details and
a little history to local attendees and tourists. It is held within the framework of the Flower
Fair, a cultural, artistic and social festival of citizen encounter, held in August each year in the
city of Medellín - Colombia. In 2001, the Colombian Club of Antique and Classic Automobiles
(CLAC) granted special recognition to the organization of the Parade of Classic and Antique
Cars, for its work in promoting, conserving, restoring and collecting automobiles. Likewise, for
the tenth version of the parade in 2005, the Medellín Council delivers the Order of Merit Don
Juan del Corral, a silver grade, in recognition of his contribution to the Medellin community
and his social work. Since its first version, the Parade of Classic and Antique Cars has been
organized by the Antioqueño Autoclub de Antiguos y Clásicos (ACLA), Clásicos y Antiguos de la
Montaña (CLAM), and Automobile Club de Colombia, Antioquia section (ACC), which since
2002 make up the Museo del Transporte Fundación. The Parade is broadcast through the
Teleantioquia and Telemedellin Channels and also has journalistic reports made by more than
20 national and international channels. The Parade of Classic and Antique Cars not only
entertains and educates participants and the general public, but also supports non-profit
entities through donations, thus allowing the improvement of the quality of life of other
Antioqueños.
 FAIR MUSIC

Cumbia is a traditional folk dance and musical rhythm from

Colombia. It has contents of three cultural aspects, indigenous,
African and to a lesser extent, white (Spanish), being the result of
the long and intense miscegenation between these cultures during
the Conquest and the Colony. The researcher Guillermo Abadía
Morales in his "Compendium of Colombian folklore", volume 3, #
7, published in 1962, affirms that "this explains the origin in the
zamba conjugation of musical air by the fusion of the melancholic
indigenous flute bagpipe or caña de mil, that is, Tolo or Kuisí, of
the Cunas and Koguis ethnic groups, respectively, and the joyous
and impetuous resonance of the African drum.

La Feria de Las Flores es la fiesta más

esperada para los Antioqueños pues se
realizan varios eventos muy importantes
para los ciudadanos y uno de ellos es la
cabalgata, esta reúne los mejores ejemplares
del país, gente de todo el país viene a visitar
el espectáculo en agosto, en la ciudad se
realizan eventos paralelos dentro de éstas
fiestas, pero ésta cabalgata es el más
importante junto al Desfile de Sileteros
