My visit to Frankfurt for the 2014 Auto

Show was great. This was the 65th edition
of the fair. It took place from September
25th to October 2nd in Hanover, Germany.

I arrived in Germany on Tuesday, 23rd of

September, two days before the start of the
event. I flew from New York to Frankurt. I
enjoyed the flight a lot.

I arrived at the exhibition center on

Wednesday, which was the first day of the
show. There were outdoor and indoor
exhibitions and lot of visitors.

I first visited the electric cars pavilion.

There were several exhibitions by different
car makers. I enjoyed them all.
The place was full of people because the
cars were really amazing.

A few days later, I attended a presentation

about the cars of the future. The exhibitors
showed a 3D clip about new technologies in
car manufacturing. These exhibition was
very interesting too. They even had a see-
through model car made in glass.

Before the end of the show, I had the

opportunity to do a drive test of a very
modern vehicle.

I traveled with a group of visitors to a nearby

circuit. We chose our favorite car and drove
along the circuit for several minutes. I felt
like a real race pilot!

Before leaving Germany, I had to try the

local food: sausages, of course! During the
last day of the show, I visited one of the local
restaurants. I ordered the Frankfurter
Würstchen which means “The little
Frankfurt saugage” It was absolutely
delicious! I also had a sauerkraut (cabbage
in vinegar) and a beer with it. These are the
usual sides that German people eat with
sausage.

My visit to the 2021 flower fairs was great. This

took place between August 22 and 30, in the
wonderful city of Medellin, Antioquia. Popayán
trip, on August 19, three days before the event.
After two years of waiting, due to the Covid-19
pandemic, which spread throughout the world,
Medellín once again dressed in flowers, with
more than 70 events on 28 stages and 3,300
invited artists, who with dances, music ,
gastronomy, theater and of course silleteros, is
ready to receive more than 20 visitors and
renew Antioquia traditions

Trova Festival
One of the traditions of Antioquia are the
troubadours, who improvise rhymes to the
rhythm of the guitar and tiple through which
they make comments and make fun of specific
situations or people. In the program of the
Flower Fair, this cultural expression is the
protagonist and that is why the Trova Festival
is one of the must-see events. The mental
agility of these 'poets' is sure to surprise and
amuse you. It is also a great opportunity to
learn more about the traditions of this region of
Colombia.

Silleteros parade:
This is the main event and the one that gives
the Fair its name. This parade is carried out by
hundreds of peasants who, throughout the
year, grow flowers on their farms and with
them build huge and colorful silletas that weigh
up to 70 kilos. The silletas are carried by the
peasants on their backs and usually have
images alluding to the Antioquia culture such
as landscapes and portraits. These parades
have become a symbol of Colombia in the
world because they are not only a sample of
artisan work, but also of the natural diversity
that the country has.

Flower Fair Stage

The Flower Fair is an event that takes place
all over Medellín, that's why you can't miss
the tablados. These small concerts are held
in the most traditional neighborhoods of
Medellín and their purpose is to bring this
great party to all corners of the city, so if you
want to learn about neighborhood life in the
city, you cannot miss the tablados.

Parade of classic and old cars:

This parade is recognized worldwide as a
traveling museum. About 500 automobiles
participate in it, which due to their great
historical value are recognized as classic
cars, which take over the main avenues of
Medellín and delight the spectators. Each
year the parade has a theme that governs
the presentation of the cars and those who
drive them. This event is one of the must-
sees since the cars, in many cases, are
unique and original models.

Concert of the Flower Fair:

Like all the Fairs in Colombia, the one in

Medellín has a great concert. This event
brings together the most important artists
year after year at the Atanasio Girardot
stadium. The concert turns into a great party
in which locals and visitors enjoy the
musical hits of the moment and can see
world-class singers up close.
