THE NERVOUS

AND
ENDOCRINE
SYSTEMS
BRAIN

The most important

sexual organ of the
human body.
HYPOTHALAMUS
Is an endocrine
organ as well
as a part of the
brain.
SEX HORMONES
Estrogen
Progesterone
Testosterone
PITUITARY GONADOTROPHIC
HORMONES
Gonadotropins: Luteinizing and Follicle

Stimulating Hormones.
Luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-
stimulating hormone (FSH) are called
gonadotropins because it stimulate the
gonads - in males, the testes, and in
females, the ovaries.
OXYTOCIN
Oxytocin is normally produced in the
hypothalamus and released by the
posterior pituitary.
contraction of the womb (uterus)
 "cuddle hormone" or the "love
hormone,"
PROLACTIN
The hormone that tells the body to
make breast milk when a person is
pregnant or breast-feeding.
Production of prolactin takes place
in the pituitary gland.
INTERSTITIAL CELL
STIMULATING HORMONE (LH)
Is a Glycoprotein Gonadotropin
Hormone secreted by the anterior
pituitary gland (an endocrine gland in the
human body). Stimulating testosterone
production from the interstitial cells of
the testes (Leydig Cells)
OTHER BODY SYSTEM
Circulatory System –provides nourishment and
oxygen.
Respiratory System – involved in the exchange of
oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Excretory System – eliminates body wastes.
Musculoskeletal system – provides framework,
mobility, strength, and protection.
OTHER BODY SYSTEM
Gastrointestinal tract - is an organ
system within humans and other
animals which takes in food, digests it
to extract and absorb energy and
nutrients, and expels the remaining
waste as feces.
Immune system - is the body's
defense against infectious organisms
and other invaders.

Skin - the soft outer tissue covering

of vertebrates with three main
functions: protection, regulation, and
sensation.
