LITERARY ART

 Literary Art broadly refers to any


collection of written or oral work, but
it more commonly and narrowly refers
to writings specifically considered to
be an art form, especially prose,
fiction, drama, and poetry, in contrast
to academic writing and newspapers.
 Literature in its widest sense:
◦ Embraces all compositions in writing or print which
preserve the results of observation, thought or
fancy.
Literary Genre is a genre type; it is a category
of literary composition. It may be determined
by:
 Literary technique
 Tone
 Content
 Length
Two (2) General Types of Literature
 1. Prose – refers to literary works in the form of
sentences and paragraphs.
◦ 2 kinds
 Fiction –any imaginative recreation and
reconstruction of life.
 A. folk tales
 B. wise sayings
 C. riddles
 D. anecdotes
 E. short story
 F. play or drama
 G. novel
 H. Film/motion picture
 Nonfiction – refers to prose literature that is
based on facts, reason , and logic. E.g. essay,
biography, autobiography, etc.
 2. Poetry –refers to those literary works in the form
of lines and stanzas.
