Internal Structure and
Composition of the Solid Earth
Core – densest layer of the inner structure of
the Earth. It is about 3,500 km thick to its
center.
Mantle – It is less denser than the core. It is
a semi-solid.
Crust – 20-100 km thick solid outermost
layer of the Earth.
Lithosphere – the rigid outer shell of the
Earth, composed of the crust the upper
mantle.

Asthenosphere – the mobile part of the


mantle under the lithosphere.
