Establishments
 Food and Beverage Establishment means an establishment where food and/or beverage are
prepared and/or sold including all work classifications as defined in this award (but not
including accommodation or any establishment within the jurisdiction of the Hotels, Resorts,
Hospitality and Motels or Licensed Clubs Awards). Without limiting the generality of this
provision it shall include a restaurant, takeaway food, cafeteria, canteen, coffee shop and tea
house.

 Food and Beverage Establishment means any building, structure, enclosure, or any part
thereof used as, maintained as, advertised as, or held out to be an operation that prepares
serves, or otherwise provides food or beverages, or both, for human consumption.

 Food and Beverage Services can be broadly defined as the process of preparing, presenting and
serving of food and beverages to the customers.

Bar/Entertainment Combination
 Disco Bars- are the type of bars where dancing is the form of entertainment and the guest could have
both food and drinks and dance

 Night Clubs – are drinking dancing and entertainment venue which do its primary business after dark

 Videoke bars – a very popular form of a bar entertainment where guest are the ones singing or
performing

 Sports bar/Pool bar- pool or other sports and watching sports event are the main entertainment offer in
this type of bar

 Comedy Bars - a type of entertainment bar where stand up comedians performs to entertain the guest
while having their drinks and foods

Types of food and beverage Combination

 Bar and Restaurant – this type of bar, food and drink can be served at the same time or the guest can have a
drink first before dining or dine first before drinking.

 Tea houses/Tea room – s small room where beverages and light meals are served, often catering chiefly to
women and having a sedate or subdued atmosphere

 Public house/Pubs- are drinking establishments which serve alcoholic drinks especially beer that can be
consumed on the premises, usually set up like home

 Taverns – is a place business where people gather to drink alcoholic beverages and more likely, food is also
served

 Brew pubs/ Micro Breweries – are pubs or restaurant that brew beer in their premises

 Service Bar- these bars are in restaurants only used to prepare drinks of the dining guests.

Counter Service
- is a type of hospitality strategy that is used in bars, pubs, and
some restaurants.

- Sometimes referred as bar service, this approach to serving


customers involves providing food and drink at a counter or bar

- rather than a table, over the years, two specific forms of counter
service have evolved, with both approaches used around the world

- is also term as club service and regarded as the
highest possible form of beverage service.
- it is usually occurred in some particular sectors
which are as follows:

 Fine dining restauarants

 Hotel Launges
 Clubs

Bottles Sales Service


- the service nature and procedures for serving
drink of bottle sales service is quite similar to velvet
service, except the spirits in question are sold by the
bottles.
- Bottle service is a sales technique used in bars
and nightclubs in which guests purchase a bottle of
liquor and are also provided with reserved seating, a
bottle server, and a variety of drink mixers.

 Food and beverage services sector contributes a great deal to the profits in
hospitality industry. With the increase in importance of business meetings, a range
of personal and social events, a large number of customers visit catering
establishments frequently.
