Introduction of Health Sector
Healthcare has become one of India’s largest sectors, both in terms of revenue and
employment. Healthcare comprises hospitals, medical devices, clinical trials,
outsourcing, telemedicine, medical tourism, health insurance and medical
equipment. The Indian healthcare sector is growing at a brisk pace due to its
strengthening coverage, services and increasing expenditure by public as well
private players.
India's competitive advantage lies in its large pool of well-trained medical
professionals. India is also cost competitive compared to its peers in Asia and
Western countries. The cost of surgery in India is about one-tenth of that in the US
or Western Europe. 4
Introduction of Mental Health
Mental health, defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), is "a state of
well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with
the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make
a contribution to his or her community". According to WHO, mental health includes
"subjective well-being, perceived self-efficacy, autonomy, competence,
intergenerational dependence, and self-actualization of one's intellectual and
emotional potential, among others".
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It
affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress,
relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life,
from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. 5

Conclusion
▸ As we all know nowadays mental health issues are considered as one of the important health
issues and specially after covid-19 pandemic. A lot of people are suffering because of many
reasons. In this report we can conclude that people suffered different kinds of psychological
problems due to covid pandemic like anxiety, depression, loneliness, frustration, anger,
financial problems, family issues due to covid, etc. The study shows that what changes
people are having in their lives, both positive and negative due to corona virus. It was also
found that there was a lot of pressure on healthcare workers and doctors. The patients who
were isolated were not able to cope up with the loneliness they had during covid. The sudden
increase in death rates created a disaster and fear between the people. Though people also got
time to spend with family from their never-ending busy schedule and developing themselves
by learning a lot of things by themselves. So, at last we can conclude that covid-19 pandemic
had both positive and negative impact on the mental health of the people but the negative
consequences are more than the positive one. 9
