BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Corona virus is a RNA virus which is found in human and birds and its diameter
is about 60nm to 140nm. Corona virus has a property of mutation and recombinant
behaviour. Coronavirus has totally 7 strain out of these three strains are fatal, that
are MERS-COV, SAR-COV and SAR-COV- 19. In 2002-2003, 774 died and 8000
people were affected by SARS. In 2012, due to MERS-COV 858 died and 2494
were affected..Currently COVID-19 caused 5,56,335 deaths infecting around 216
countries. COVID- 19 stands for ‘CO’ as corona, 'VI' for virus, and 'D' for disease.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The World Health Organization declared the SARS-CoV-2 infection as a pandemic in
March 2020. After that, many of the countries including India introduced lockdown
measures to slow down the spread of the virus in the community. The preventive measures
suggested are social distancing, identification and isolation of cases, contact tracing and
creating containment zones, and disinfection of the environment. Countrywide lockdown is
implemented. India went in lockdown from March 25, 2020. Relaxations of the lockdown
were implemented from May 4, 2020, permitting only minimal activities in the community.
From the beginning itself Schools and educational institutions, playgrounds, and
entertainment centres were closed. During lockdown, people was afraid of infection
transmission,

money loss, doubtful about future, and lack of vent of stresses. (3)

• Due to global economic crisis 142 million children are pushed to poor household in
developing countries. Globally 168 million children School were been completely
closed. 1 in 7 children have missed more than three quarters of their in-person learning

NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
• 188 countries imposed country wide school closure. 463 million children globally not
able to access the remote learning. 2 million under five death may occur due to less
access to health services. 2 lakhs additional still birth can occur due to less access to
health services.

OPERATIONAL DEFINITIONS
• Quality of life:
In this study quality of life means the physical, psychological and
social wellbeing of the children as assessed using modified
KIDSCREEN questionnaire.
• Children:
Children between 14-17 years of age.

TOOL/INSTRUMENT
Section A:- Demographic variables of study participants such as
Age, gender, level of education, religion, residence, occupation of
the caregiver, financial support, person affected with covid in the
family, vaccination status of the caregiver, govt support during covid.

DATA COLLECTION PLAN
• After receiving the written permission from the authorities concerned
with the school.

DATA COLLECTION PLAN
• The self- administered questionnaire will be given to the students. Time level of
30 minutes will be given to complete the questionnaire. The investigator will
check the completeness of the questionnaire while collecting it.
• If classes are in online mode, the investigator will make the questions as google
form. With the help of the class teacher the responses will be got.

PLAN OF DATA ANALYSIS
Descriptive statistics:
• Frequency and percentage distribution will be used to analyse the
demographic data of the children
• Mean and standard deviation will be used to identify the factors
contributing to covid.
• Mean and standard deviation will be used to assess the quality of life
of children during covid.
• Frequency and percentage distribution will be used to list the coping
mechanism of children
