SYSTEM
- a system designed to manage
healthcare data. This includes systems
that collect, store, manage and transmit a
patient’s electronic medical record, a
hospital’s operational management or a
system supporting healthcare policy
decisions.
LESSON 1: Vision, Mission, Core values,
and Objectives of the Institution
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION: a place where learners of different ages gain
education. Educational institutions carry out educational activities and engage
students with various learning environments and spaces.
2 Types of Education:
FORMAL EDUCATION: deals with conventional classroom setup where
structured methods of learning are administered in educational institutions. Formal
education starts at around age 4 from preschool up to higher education. It takes
place in a stipulated period in which learners complete each level by acquiring the
required competencies in preparation for higher learning.
INFORMAL EDUCATION: anything learned independently outside the
conventional classroom set up. It is not restricted to a certain location and is
usually integrated with the surroundings.
VISION STATEMENT
Conveys the desired end of the institution. A
one-sentence statement that describes the
distinct and motivating long term desired
transformation resulting from institutional
programs. Must be clear, memorable, and
concise.
MISSION STATEMENT
A one-sentence statement relating the intention of an institution’s existence. This communicates
what you do or what you do this for.

VALUE STATEMENT
Is a list of fundamental doctrines that guide and
direct the educational institution. This sets the
moral direction of the institution and its
academic community.
OBJECTIVES
Short statements the learners should achieve
within or at the end of the course lesson. Must
be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable,
Realistic, Time bound)
ACTIVITY 1
Instructions: Answer the prompts briefly. Put it in a short bond paper (red margin, 1
inch, name on lower right of the paper, with your year and section under your
name)

1. What is your school’s vision statement and how can you help your school to
achieve it?
2. State you school’s mission and explain how you can contribute to its success.
3. List down the core values of your school and explain how you will imbibe these
institutional core values
4. Ponder on the vision, mission, core values, and objectives of the college of
Medical Laboratory Science of your school. How will these statements help you
become a successful scientist?
