INTRODUCTION:

Heating. Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is the technology of indoor

and vehicular environmental comfort. HVAC system design is a sub
discipline of mechanical engineering,
based on the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat
transfer.

HVAC is an important part of residential structures such as single family homes,

apartment buildings, hotels and senior living facilities, medium to large industrial
and office buildings such as skyscrapers and hospitals. The heat can be
transferred by convection, conduction or radiation.
ABOUT THE COMPANY

PRINSTON SMART ENGINEERS traces its roots back to 2004 in New Delhi

With Dozens of successful projects under company's belt, it can proudly stand
as a most trusted Engineering, Maintenance &Training Services in Delhi and
Gujarat.
On request from colleges the company started providing quality internship from
their expert team to the students.
In 2020 Prinston Smart Engineers collaborated with Wedir-Tech Trading
Contracting & Services W.L.L, Doha, Qatar for mutual benefit and iyttpr sprvinp

^STEM(MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING

Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) refers to these aspects of

building design and construction.
In commercial buildings these aspects are often designed by an
engineering firm specializing in MEP.
MEP design is important for design decision-making, accurate
documentation, performance and cost-estimation, construction planning,
managing and operating the resulting facility.
MEP specifically encompasses the in-depth design and selection of these
systems, as opposed to a tradesperson simply installing equipment.
^MECHANICAL SYSTEM

The mechanical component of MEP is an important superset of HVAC services.

Heating, cooling, ventilation and exhaustion are all key areas to consider in the
mechanical planning of a building.
Basic HVAC EauiDment:-
Fans / Blowers
Condensing units
Control System
Filters
Furnace/ Heating I
unit
Compressor
Evaporator
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Virtually all modern buildings integrate some form of AC

mains electricity for powering domestic and everyday
appliances.
Three-phase power is commonly used for industrial
machines, particularly motors and high-load devices.
PLUMBING SYSTEM

The scope of standard residential plumbing usually

covers mains pressure potable watei; heated water.
Plumbing systems also service air distribution/ control,
and
part therefore
of MER contribute to the mechanical
LOAD CALCULATION

There are 3 approaches for load calculations

1. CLTD (Cooling Load Temperature Difference)
2. CLF( Cooling Load Factor)
3. SCL(Solar Cooling Load Factor)
Load Calculation can be Divided into 2 Factors
1. External Load Factor( Roofs, Ceiling, Walls etc.)
2. Internal Load Factor( People, Lights, Power ids
etc.)
TASK PERFORMED

x Geting system design like a mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

HAP (HOURLY ANALYSIS PROGRAM) Software

SteDl: Open the HAP Software and create new project by giving specific values.
Step 2: Update weather properties of a city required using ASHRAE data book

Step 3: Update project libraries like Schedules, walls, Roof, Windows, Door etc..

EXPERIENCE:

During this course of internship we got the full time knowledge of how to
design the HVAC system for a School building.
We observed the real time duty of a HVAC engineer and experienced
about what his/her work will be in this corporate world. We got to use the
HAP (Hourly Analysis Program) software for designing the accurate
tonnage or capacity of Air conditioning system for school’s ground floor
plan.
Overall the company's interaction with the students was good and every
student by clearing his/her doubt.
CONCLUSIONS

Internship gave an exposure to professional activities and a experience

to complement the theoretical content of studies.
A bright study was made on HVAC working and its environment.
During the internship we also learn different parts of ducts, its working,
safety measures and the standards to be followed while designing it.
Acknowledged the need of software learning in the industry.
