Important notes from Employer requirements
and Engineering report
Since the road give access and mobility between Woldia town and
Stadium, the road could be classified as Link (Class IV) which can be
designed to design classes ranging from DC3 to DC7 according to ERA
Geometric Design Manual 2013.
Design Standard
Main Road DC7
Access Roads DC6
Departure is not allowed
The roadway design shall be done with a view of delivering
acceptable and fit for purposes design for road users and avoids
any disruption to people living alongside of the road. The design
shall provide sufficient solutions to problems that may arise in
relation to terrain condition, in particular in town/village
sections the geometric design must consider accessibility

Horizontal Alignment
• Horizontal alignment design has been made to meet
the requirement of DC6, driving comfort and
consider the right of ways.
• Follow the Existing Roads to avoid access problem ,
to minimize the right of way obstructios and Excess
Excavation and Fill Volume
• All the Horizontal Curve Data meet the requirements
Page 13
Vertical Alignment
• Vertical alignment design has been made to meet the requirement of
DC6, driving comfort, easy access to residence along the road, and to tie
with existing features(Start and end) .
• All the vertical curves consider
• the minimum cover of the structure
• proper channelization and
• Fill Height and Cut depth to minimize the earth work volume
• All Vertical Grade and Curve Data meet the requirements except 2 in
segment 2 roads

Road furniture and markings
The following road furniture and markings are designed for the
project road
Traffic sign,
Road Marking
Guide posts (Marker Posts) and
Guard Rail
Construction Quantities
• Based on the design of Horizontal and Vertical alignment and Typical
section of the road, the construction quantities has been computed.
