1. New Education Policy 2020

 The New Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) approved by Union Cabinet on 29th July 2020.
 Replaces National Policy on Education 1986.
 Ministry of Human Resource & Development Renamed as Ministry of Education.
 The Implementation starts with June 2021.
 Karnataka Become first state to Implement NEP 2020 from the Academic Year 2021-22.
2. Aims & Objectives of NEP 2020

 NEP 2020 aims at making “India a global knowledge superpower”


 Universalization of education from preschool to secondary level with 100% Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in
school education by 2030.
 Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education to be raised to 50% by 2035. Also, 3.5 crore seats to be added in
higher education.
 The policy is based on the pillars of “Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability.
 Higher Education curriculum to possess Flexibility of Subjects.
 Various Entry/ Exit to be allowed with relevant certification.
 To facilitate Transfer of Credits, the Academic Bank of Credits will be established.

 National Research Foundation will be created as an apex body.


 Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will be set up for the entire higher education, excluding
medical and legal education.
 Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will have four independent verticals namely National
Higher Education Regulatory Council (NHERC) for regulation,  General Education Council (GEC ) for
standard-setting, Higher Education Grants Council (HEGC) for funding,  and National Accreditation
Council( NAC) for accreditation.

 PPP (Public Private Partnership) Model between GOI and Educational Technology Companies.
 AICTE (All India Council of Technology Education) will be the Implementing Agency
 Educational Technology Companies will be free to charge fees as per their policy.
 contribution towards the National cause, they would have to offer free coupons to the extent of 25% of the
total registrations for their solution through NEAT portal.

 AI based Technological Solutions to facilitate learner using Adaptive Learning
 Identification of E-content in niche area
 Monitoring and implementing benefit to students from Economically and Socially weaker sections of
society.
 Call for proposals [Invitation] for Expression of Interest (EOI) on regular basis from Ed Tech Companies.
 Monitoring learner data.
 Conducting awareness workshop/program and social media campaign for NEAT
Planed Software Outcomes in NEP 2020

 Rich Variety of Software will be developed and available to students and Teachers.
 All softwares must be in all major Indian languages.
 Accessible to Student in Remote Areas and with disabilities.
 Teaching- Learning Contents will be developed in All states and will be uploaded on National teacher’s
Portal.
