SENTENCE
A sentence in English must have at least one subject
and one verb. The first thing you should do as you read
a sentence in the structure is to find the subject and
the verb.
Newspapers are delivered every morning and every
evening.

CLAUSE
Clause: A clause is a group of words containing a subject
and a verb.
Clause harus ada verbnya meskipun tidak punya
subjek.
Independent clause: an independent clause is a complete
sentence. It contains the main subject and verb of
a sentence.(It is also called a main clause).
Dependent clause: a dependent clause is not a complete
sentence. It must be connected to an
independent clause.
NOUN CLAUSE
A Noun is used as a subject or an object.
A noun clause is used as a subject or an object.
Example:
I don’t know where she lives
I couldn’t hear what he said
ADJECTIVE & ADVERB
CLAUSE
ADJECTIVE CLAUSE
An adjective clause is a dependent clause that
modifies a noun. It describes, identiifies, or gives
further information about a NOUN.

I thanked the women.


She helped me
I thanked the women who helped me
ADVERB CLAUSE
When we were in China, we saw several plays.
We saw several plays when we were in China

AC is a dependent clause. It cannot stand alone as a


sentence. It must be connected to an independent
clause.
