Introduction of Company
IKAN Engineering & Services was established in 1992. IKAN is a
renowned ISO 9001, 14001 & 18001 certified organization and has also
earned authorization for ASME “U” and “S” Stamps for fabrication of
Boilers and Pressure Vessels in addition to National Board “R” Stamp
certification for repair of Pressure retaining parts/equipment. IKAN is
extending services to most of the projects of national significance, in a
diversified range of sectors especially Power, Oil & Gas, Communication &
Telecom, Cement, Infrastructure, Food & Beverages and other process
industries.
QA/QC
QA/QC is the combination of quality assurance, the process or
set of processes used to measure and assure the quality of a
product, and quality control, the process of ensuring products
and services meet consumer expectations.
Aims & Objectives of Quality Control
List of Activities of Quality Control Department
Dossier
Aims & Objectives of Quality Control

• Improvement of quality
• Reduction of scrap and rework
• Efficient use of men & machine
• Economy in use of materials
• Decreasing inspection costs
• Reduction in cost per unit
• Quality caution at levels
• Reduction in customer complaints
• To decide about the standard of quality of a product that is easily acceptable to the
customer
• To check the variation during manufacturing
• To prevent poor quality product reaching to the customer
List of Activities of Quality Control Department
 Testing and release or rejection of all incoming raw materials, packing materials, in-process / intermediates and
finished products as per specified specifications.
 Maintaining testing records as per standard procedures for raw materials, packing materials, in-process / intermediates
and finished products.
 Calibration of laboratory instrument / equipment.
 Performing stability study.
 Control sample storage.
 Analytical method validation.
 Preparation of standard volumetric solutions and maintain standardization record.
 Maintain Labeling procedure at all the stages and records.
 Maintain working / reference standard record of products.
 Analysis of complaint samples as and when required.
 To conduct technical audit / self-inspection.
 Follow safety norms at all the stage during handling of chemicals and using instruments.
 Follow good laboratory practices.
Dossier

By definition dossier is a collection of papers containing detailed information about a particular person or subject
(usually a person's record). A dossier is collection of all necessary documents that are needed in the inspection & quality
control of a job.

Project Management
Project management is the process of leading the work of a team to achieve
goals and meet success criteria at a specified time. The primary challenge of
project management is to achieve all of the project goals within the given
constraints.
Phases of Planning
Key milestones and schedule of the project
Budget making
Project material procurement
Project execution methodology
S-curve
Weekly and monthly progress reports
Project Management
• Key milestones and schedule of the project
• Boq
• Bom
• Dispatch and invoice entries
• Weather index report
• Project Kpi
• Technical query record
Production
Production is a process of combining various material inputs and
immaterial inputs in order to make something for consumption. It is the act
of creating an output, a good or service which has value and contributes to
the utility of individuals.
Responsibility of Production
Issuance of raw material
Allocation of material
Provision of drawings
Coordination
Quality inspection
Reviewing
Breakdown
Keeping record
Quality assurance
Welding

Welding is a process in which materials of the same fundamental type or class are
brought together and caused to join (and become one) through the formation of primary
(and, occasionally, secondary) chemical bonds under the combined action of heat and
pressure.
Electric Arc Welding Processes
Non consumable Electrode Arc Welding Processes
• Gas-Tungsten Arc Welding
• Plasma Arc Welding
Consumable Electrode Arc Welding Processes
• Gas-Metal Arc Welding
• Shielded-Metal Arc Welding
• Flux-Cored Arc Welding
• Submerged Arc Welding
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick Welding)

Uses a consumable electrode, consisting of a filler metal rod coated with chemicals
that provide flux and shielding. Composition of filler metal usually close to base
metal. Welding stick is clamped in electrode holder connected to power source.
Sticks must be periodically changed.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)

Uses a no consumable tungsten electrode and an inert gas for arc shielding
Melting point of tungsten = 3410C (6170F)
A.k.a. Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding
In Europe, called "WIG welding"
Used with or without a filler metal
When filler metal used, it is added to weld pool from separate rod or wire
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)

Uses a continuous, consumable bare wire electrode, with arc shielding by a cover of
granular flux
Electrode wire is fed automatically from a coil
Flux introduced into joint slightly ahead of arc by gravity from a hopper
Completely submerges operation, preventing sparks, spatter, and radiation
Design

The design department at IKAN deals with the following design and
development
1-Structures
2-Mechanical piping
3-Static equipment
Structures
1-Trusses
2-Bridges
3-Platforms
4-Tracks
5-Buildings etc.
Pressure Vessel

Pressure Vessels
Pressure vessels are basically container designed to hold gases or
liquids at a pressure substantially different from the ambient
pressure.
The pressure vessels include different type of containers mainly:
1-Bowsers
2-Reactors tanks
3-Storage tanks etc.
Standards Followed

ASME Section 8
Shape of pressure vessels:
Pressure vessels can theoretically be almost any shape, but shapes made of sections of spheres,
cylinders, and cones are usually employed. A common design is a cylinder with end caps called
heads. Head shapes are frequently either hemispherical or dished (tori spherical).
Mechanical Piping

The mechanical piping system follows different designs

procedures.it is somehow different from the static equipment and
structures diagrams:
Parts in mechanical piping diagram:
Mechanical piping basically consists of two drawings. They are
• P and ID diagram
• Isometric drawing
P and ID diagram

A piping and instrumentation diagram/drawing (P&ID) is a detailed

diagram in the process industry which shows the piping and vessels in
the process flow, together with the instrumentation and control devices.
They are also vital in enabling development of:
1-Control and shutdown schemes
2-Safety and regulatory requirements
3-Start-up sequences
4-Operational understanding
