1-1. C1184   (1/3)

TABT1200536EN00
<Symptom>
The C1184 (Paper discharge control motor’s malfunction) occurred during the initial
operation when FS-534 wakes up from the sleep mode.

<Cause>
If the rotor in the stepping motor (Paper receiving control motor :M12) stopped at the
angle opposite to the default magnetic excitation angle before falling in to the sleep
mode, the rotor vibrates and fails to start, then the C1184 is detected..
When returning from the sleep mode (and turning on the machine), the memory of the
motor driver is reset, and it caused the finisher to start the motor from the default
magnetic excitation angle. Therefore, the motor fails to rotate and the C1184 happens.

Note:
While the machine is being turned on the main SW, the motor driver remembers the
excitation angle, so the motor can be correctly controlled.

2-5. The failure of One-way clutch spring(A2XM5926) (1/2)

<Symptom> TABT1300531EN**

(Jam code : J20-01, J20-02, J20-21, J20-22, J99-01)

<Cause>
The One-way clutch (Assy of parts1, 2, 3) of the vertical transport section has big
clearance to shaft direction, so it is possible that the hook of One-way clutch
spring(A2XM5926) drops out of the slit. (or changes.)

2-6. J12-01 (PWB-EX Assy related)(1/2)

<Symptom> TABT1301504EN

When continuously printing approx. 50 sheets of thick paper from tray 2/3/4 or LU (not tray 1 or
bypass tray), J12-01 may occur (vertical transport jam: Tray 2 paper feed jam).
<CAUSE>
From C554e/C454e, as the expansion control board is changed to 2 layers, heat release from
GND pattern of the driver in the board, which drives the vertical transport motor, has
decreased. Due to this, the temperature of the driver rises, therefore thermal shut down (all
power shuts down when the temperature of the driver rise) that is the self function of the driver
occurs. Consequently, the vertical transport motor stops and a jam (J12-01) is generated.
(Expansion control board of C554/C454 is 4 layer board.)
[Occurrence Condition ]
Model : C554e, C454e
Paper feed : Tray 2/3/4, LU
This symptom does not occur with Tray 1/Bypass Tray since the vertical transfer motor conveys
paper from Tray 2 and below trays until the timing roller.
Mode : When continuously printing 50 sheets of thick paper
(It does not occur with Plain Paper Mode).
Paper Type : Thick paper 1/2/3/4
