Geography and climate
• an archipelago
• With 7, 641 islands (National Mapping
and Resource Information Authority)
• surrounded in the north by Japan,
Hongkong, Taiwan and South Korea; in
the south by Singapore, Malaysia and
Indonesia; and in the west by Thailand.
• To the east is the vast expanse of the
Pacific Ocean, which earned for the
country the title, "gateway of the west to
Asia".

Entry
• Only a visitor’s visa is required when one
enters the Philippines.
Entry without VISA
• Non-resident foreign nationals are
allowed entry “visa-free” for 21 days
if:
• they have passports that are valid for at
least 6 months after the contemplated
period of stay in the country
• and a valid plane ticket for return
journey.

Restricted Entry
• Entry is denied to visiting restricted

Philippine Embassy/Consulate in their
country of origin or residence. The visa
has a maximum period of 59 days.

INDUSTRY
• Korea is the top spending market with receipts amounting to about Php 12.14
billion. Visitors from USA registered an accumulated spending of about Php
4.30 billion. China placed third with almost Php 3.30 billion spent followed by
Japan with estimated Php 2.15 billion spending and Canada with Php 1.64
billion.
• Countries from Asia covered 57.40% of total tourist traffic corresponding to
352,098 visitors. Arrivals from the Americas contributed 20.57% to total inbound
volume or 126,147 visitors. On the other hand, 73,025 arrivals (11.91%) came from
Europe while some 39,715 arrivals (6.47%) were from Australasia/Pacific.
