Today, the world is closer to each other than ever. We
have chosen to leave tyranny and monarchy in the
past, replacing them with democracy and tolerance.
But the world has not become perfect, because people
prefer to deny the existence of problems or not
acknowledge their mistakes, instead of trying to
change something. The only hope is to start making
the right decisions and participating in changing the
world.

– one beautiful word – was established in 1981 by the United

Who is the founder of peace?


Johan Vincent Galtung (born 24 October 1930) is a Norwegian
sociologist, and the principal founder of the discipline of peace and conflict
studies.
He was the main founder of the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO)
in 1959 and served as its first director until 1970. He also established the
Journal of Peace Research in 1964. In 1969 he was appointed to the world's
first chair in peace and conflict studies, at the University of Oslo. He
resigned his Oslo professorship in 1977 and has since held professorships at
several other universities; from 1993 to 2000 he taught as Distinguished
Professor of Peace Studies at the University of Hawaii. He has been based in
Kuala Lumpur, where he was the first Tun Mahathir Professor of Global Peace
at the International Islamic University Malaysia until 2015.

Who is responsible for ,,World Peace”?


The United Nations came into being in 1945, following
the devastation of the Second World War, with one central
mission: the maintenance of international peace and security.
The UN does this by working to prevent conflict; helping parties
in conflict make peace; peacekeeping; and creating the
conditions to allow peace to hold and flourish. These activities
often overlap and should reinforce one another, to be effective.
The UN Security Council has the primary responsibility for
international peace and security.

Without it, the destructive tendencies of our species will continue to inch us closer to catastrophe. The Gulf
oil spill is but one example. But we human beings, in our true essence, are capable of the most glorious and uplifting
actions. We have the potential to create a world at peace and become what I like to call “Homo Ahimsa” — the
nonviolent human.

Peace of mind, which is inner peace, offers countless benefits:
 Better concentration ability.
 Efficiency in handling your daily affairs of life.
 A sense of inner strength and power.
 More patience, tolerance and tact.
 Freedom from stress, anxieties and worries.
 A sense of inner happiness and bliss.

Is peace possible in the world?


“Genuine “world peace”–meaning effective consensus
regarding shared sacrifices as well as voluntary cooperation–is
theoretically possible. But “world peace” imposed by a dominant power
assisted by a few partners is unlikely because global power is becoming
increasingly diversified and contentious.

How does peace affect the world?


Violent conflict and instability disrupt markets and societies. In 2014,
global economic losses due to violent conflict amounted to over US$9.8 trillion.
Half of the world's population lives in high-risk and conflict-affected areas.

How can we maintain peace in our world?


6 steps to world peace:
 Start by stamping out exclusion.
 Bring about true equality between women and men.
 Share out wealth fairly.
 Tackle climate change.
 Display less hubris, make more policy change.
 Fix intergenerational relations.
