What is
Globalization?
Globalization
It is a process of interaction and integration among people,
companies, and governments of different nations.
A process driven by international trade and investment and
aided by information technology. This process has effects on
the environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic
development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being
in societies around the world.

Globalization phenomenon is an intermittent process. Its impact may
differ from time to time, but it always brings the economic, social,
political, and cultural aspects of society to global level.

Globalization creates new markets and wealth.It is both a source of


repression and a catalyst for global movements of social justice and
emancipation.

Simultaneously, it continues to demonstrate new traits on an almost-daily
basis and is constantly exposed to new events.

Example: The terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 have left a


profound impact on the international agenda of global negotiations and
economic agreements. This has particularly highlighted the need for a
global strategy for security.

Globalization is an economic phenomenon that has marked itself on a
worldwide scale. Among the different definitions that defines
globalization on a simple one would be the movement of goods,
services and capital due to an increase trade and investment in other
countries around the world.

• International division of labor rapidly expanding volume of capital flows.


Capital remains concentrated among wealthiest nations.

Phenomenon

Social phenomena are the constantly evolving individual and external


influences that significantly affect our behaviors and opinions. Social
phenomena can be caused by politics, historical events, and beheviors of
others.

Examples:
Include marriage, racism or violent crime.
Cultural
Phenomenon
• Relating to the ideas, customs, and social behavior of a society.
• The experience of everyday life, as influenced by the diffusion of
commodities and ideas, reflects a standardization of cultural
expressions around the world.
Examples:
FOOD
- food consumption is an important aspect of culture and most societies around
the world that are unique to them, however the cultural globalization of food has
been promoted by fast food giants such McDonalds, Coca-Cola and Starbucks.
Political
Phenomenon
Political phenomenon means relating to the state,
government, the body politic, public administration,
policy-making, etc.

Example:
Money in US politics - supported and condoned by the Supreme
Court.
