What is mental health?
Factors that help you cope with stress of life.
Have you ever helped or support anyone who
have mental health problem?
Mental Health:
 All of us have mental health and, like our bodies, our minds can become unwell.

 1 in 10 young people will experience a mental health problem.

 These include depression, anxiety disorder, eating disorders, psychosis or bipolar disorder.

 It’s important to talk about mental health and get help early if things don’t feel right, just like
we would for our physical health.
Mental health:
“A state of wellbeing in which every individual
realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the
normal stresses of life, can work productively and
fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or
his community.”
OR
The capacity to live a full, productive life as well as
the flexibility to deal with its ups and downs. In
children and young people it is especially about the
capacity to learn, enjoy friendships, to meet
challenges, to develop talents and capabilities.”
What is mental wellbeing?
It is more than the absence of mental illness and it
is more than feeling happy.
It is the ability to cope with the day-to-day stresses
of life, work productively, interact positively with
others and realise our own potential.

When someone is diagnosed with a mental


health disorder.
