Conditional Sentence Conditional sentences are also known as conditional Clauses or Conditional If or If Clauses They are used to express that the action in the main clause ( without if ) can only take place if a certain condition ( in the clause with if ) is fulfilled. Structure A conditional sentence is composed 2 part : IF CLAUSE + MAIN CLAUSE Example : If it rains tomorrow, we will not come if clause main clause Conditional Sentence type 1 It is possible and also very likely that the conditional will be fulfilled. Form : If + Simple Present, Will + Infinitive ( If + S +V1, S + will + V1 ) Example : 1. If I find her address, I will send her an invitation. 2. If I have the money, I will buy this car. Conditional Sentence type 2 It is possible but very unlikely that the conditional will be fulfilled. Form : If + Simple Past, Would + Infinitive ( If + S +V2, S + would + V1 ) Example : 1. If I found her address, I would send her an invitation It means : I don’t find her address so I don’t send her an invitation. 2. If I had money, I would buy this car. If I had found her address, I would have sent her an invitation It means : I didn’t her address so I didn’t send her an invitation. 2. If I had had money, I would have bought this car.
