•
Underground construction or mutlistorey level construction need to be relooked at
•
Possibilities and consideration
•
Since its a bus terminus the site has been leveled up for the
movement of buses
• Soiltype
•
Sandy areas are found along the river banks
• and coasts such as Thiruvanmiyur, Adyar,
• Kottivakkam, Santhome, George Town,

• During rainy season the environment ll become
more wet due to improper construction it This site comes under urban heat island
penetrated into finishes and lack of vegetations
•
The garage leads to clogging of water and leads to ● Some cooling techniques need to be
water pollution adopted and vegetation can be included in
• design
The intersection of cooum river leads to many
waterprone diseas in and around the areas of ● Due to the metro substation the

underground construction need to be
• designed with proper justification
Due to flood and heavy rainfall many of the subway
gets filled thus the underground construction need
to be designed with proper justification ● Construction for sandy soil must be
incorporated

BUS TERMINAL
LITERATURE STUDY
BUS TERMINAL
It server as a point of:-
• Concentration
• Dispersion
• Loading and unloading of passengers
• Storage of vehicles
• Facilities and amenities for user and crew
• Documentation of movement
• Information system
• Integration of various systems of transportation
HIERARCHY OF BUS TERMINAL:-
• Road based bus stop
• Road side bus bay
• Sub nodal terminal
• Nodal bus terminal
• Inter-city bus terminal
• Inter-state bus terminal
REQUIREMENTS TO BE FOLLOWED:-
• Accessibility
• Comfort and convenience
• Safety
• Easy processing
LOCATION OF TERMINAL BASED ON:-
• Form a component in hierarchy of transport system.
• Concentration and dispersal costs should be minimum.
• Located as a point of coordination and integration between
inter-city and intra-city transport.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS:-
• Segregation of bus and non bus traffic.
• Segregation of pedestrian and vehicular movement.
• Elimination of vehicular traffic conflict.
• Segregation of pedestrian flows.
• Minimum processing for the buses.
• Segregation of transportation and non-transportation
activities.
DESIGN PARAMETERS
• ENTRY/EXIT
• PARKING AND
CIRCULATION
• MAINTENANCE AREA
• ADMIN BLOCK
ENTRY/EXIT
• Provided at the edge of major access road
• Segregate bus and public's entry/exit
• Simultaneous entry and exit using a checkpost
PARKING AND CIRCULATION
• Segregation of staff and visitors parking.
• Two wheelers and four wheelers parking to be provided
• 60-degree angle is used for ease of pulling in and out of the bays and to
optimise parking area.
• Parking bays should be aligned in a linear manner and oriented in the
direction that allows maximum uninterrupted driveway length.
• The bays are planned with a 3.5 X 2.5 m central raised platform.
ADMIN BLOCK
• The administrative block can be planned in a manner that controls
the entry/exit of administrative staff and crew members.
FIRE FIGHTING
• Terminal projects need to be designed to incorporate efficient
and cost-effective fire protection systems, both passive and
automatic.
• These systems are effective in detecting, containing, and
controlling and/or extinguishing a fire event at early stages.
Material study
AS OUR SITE IS LOCATED NEAR SEASHORE,
THE MATERIAL SHOULD BE
WIND RESISTANCE
CORROSION LESS[COMBO OF SALT,HUMID,WIND]
DURABLE
CONCRETE
HOLLOW BLOCKS
CLAYTILE
GALVANISED IRON BAR
PLEXIGLASS
LUMBER
COLORBOND ULTRA STEEL
CRS BARS [CORROSION RESISTANCE STEEL]
WATERPROOFING AND COLOURING SOLUTION
PLEXIGLASS
• IT’S A TRANSPARENT THERMALPLASTIC WHICH IS USED IN SHEET FORM
• IT IS LIGHT WEIGHT MATERIAL AND SHATTER RESISTANT
• THEY ARE THE REPLACEMENT FOR GLASS AS THEY ARE THE STRONG PLASTIC
• SUSTAINS IN HARSH WEATHER CONDITIONS
• CAN BE INSTALLED IN ANY TYPE OF ROOF
• THEY PASS 90% OF LIGHT THROUGH IT
• THEY ARE SLIP RESISTANCE AND VERSATILE THAN GLASS
• PLEXIGLASS IS EASY TO CUT TO MAKE INTO ANY FORM
• THEY ARE EVEN USED IN SKYLIGHTS AS IT IS EASY TO MAINTAIN AND HAS HIGH STRENGTH
• CAN BE USED AS FURNITURE MATERIAL
• THIS PLASTIC MATERIAL IS USED TO AVOID THE VIRAL SPREAD
IN CURRENT SITUATION THEY ARE USED IN ALL THE SUPERMAKET AND STORES AS A BARIER IN THE
