What is the book about?

Language and power


books dealing with language and power that become more prominent
when cultural differences are included, issues that have the potential to
damage or build a relationship.

✘ Why did you select it?

- because this book teaches us how to speak to our parents and


friends, apart from that language is the most important aspect in the
world of learning, even in daily life, language is also juxtaposed
with power, language cannot be separated from power, speech must
also have power so that we can say what we want to say.

What is the author’s qualification?

Why is the author written the book?


- the author often uses jargon, the author feels that the author is
smarter when using jargon, the author wants to impress people with
the vocabulary learning that the author gets.

- to share the author's experience with the reader, and inspire the reader,
besides that the author also shows the reader the relationship between
power and language that can change when met with cultural differences
between teachers and students, between students with one another,
besides that the author also discusses how we talk to parents.

that are found in the book?
Chocolate cake that changed some of the author's hopes.
- author believes that Isailah is a very talented writer, success comes
to both of them, author and Yesaya, there is no longer a struggle for
power and language selection by author for Yesaya, they were
inspired by Isaiah and a chocolate cake that was eaten by a writer as
well as a reader , they found that the purpose of writing was to get
ideas on paper.

- One morning before Isaiah's field trip.

there is no longer a power struggle between Isaiah and the author
caused by differences in the use of language in writing their works.

relations, it is necessary for us to consider how to address these
power relations in our instruction

- When the author begins to share his confusions and problems with his
colleagues, he realizes that they can be more productive by learning
from the mistakes and breakthroughs of others.

facts and evidence that the author ignores is that he makes his co-workers a resource
he can use to be more productive. and not thinking about his partner's feelings, he only
believes that what he has done can benefit both parties

- Weakness:
The book is not include a lot of expert opinion, it’s just based on personal experience.
- Strength:
1. Use easy to understand language.

2. Many illustrated scenes in the book can make the reader more curious and also happy to
read it

Is the book effective for certain reader?

- Yes, I think this book is very effective for certain readers such as
prospective teachers or educators because this book talks a lot about
how to change minds in various ways and have good relationships
between colleagues.
