IMPORTANCE
OF
GOAL SETTING
HOW TO SET S.M.A.R.T. GOALS
SMART is a mnemonic acronym
used to guide individuals, groups
and organizations in setting
productive and realistic goals in the
future.
• What is it
exactly that I
want to
achieve?
• How will I know
success when I see it?
• What are the
indicators of progress
and success?
• Do I have sufficient
resources and capabilities
to attain my goals?
• Will these be available
when needed?
• What makes my goal
significant? Is it worth pursuing?
• Is it aligned with my other
goals?
• Is this the right time to pursue
it?
• When is the most
appropriate time to
attain my goal?
PERSONAL GOAL SETTING
OBJECTIVE: To plot the annual target achievement within
the prescribed period of completion of the program
OUTPUT: Accomplished personal goal setting worksheet (60%)
Visual representation of personal goals (40%)
THINK-PAIR-
SHARE
1. Facilitator plays soft music to help students relax and focus on the activity.
2. Each student is given 40 minutes to fill out Parts 1 and 2 of the personal goal setting
worksheet.
3. If there is still time, students may start working on Part 3 of the worksheet.
4. After the allotted time, students find a partner.
5. Each student is given 10 minutes to share his personal goals and elicit feedback from his
partner. The partner may suggest ways on how to refine his personal goals.
6. When the paired task is completed, facilitator explains the expected outputs (and the
process involved) related personal goal setting.
7. Students submit the worksheets and wait for further instructions.
STUDENT
MENTORING
From Weeks 4-9, facilitator mentors students in refining their
personal goals. This may be done during class hours or within the
scheduled consultation hours. The facilitator may use any relevant
application in the LMS in mentoring and monitoring students’
progress. In the end, the students are expected to articulate their
annual goals in writing and using visual representation.

goal setting worksheet, each student submits the approved
worksheet to the facilitator by:
