Mission of the : The University shall primarily provide advanced professional and technical instruction for special purposes, advanced studies in industrial trade,
University agriculture, fishery, forestry, aeronautics, and land-based programs, arts and sciences, health sciences, information technology and other relevant
fields of study. It shall also undertake research and extension services and provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization (Sec. 2 of RA
9744).

Goals of the : 1. Provide quality instruction to produce competent graduates with functional knowledge and skills in the field of fisheries and the like for global

Program Outcomes : The graduates of the BS Fisheries program shall have acquired the knowledge and competencies necessary to perform the following:
a) Demonstrate the ability to perform the competence set forth in CMO 43, s. 2006;
b) Apply knowledge in mathematics, science and technology in solving problems related to the profession and the workplace;
c) Work in a multi-cultural and/or multi-disciplinary environment;
d) Understand professional and ethical responsibilities;
e) Communicate effectively in oral and written English;
f) Understand the impact and implications of various contemporary issues in the global and social context of the profession;
g) Engage in lifelong learning and keep abreast with the developments in the field of specialization and/or profession;
h) Use appropriate techniques, skills and modern tools in the practice of the profession in order to remain globally competitive; and
i) Design research and analyze data using appropriate research methodologies.

Course Description : The course deals with the nature of identity, as well as the factors and forces that affect the development and maintenance of personal identity.
This course is intended to facilitate the exploration of the issues and concerns regarding self and identity to arrive at a better understanding of
one’s self. The course is divided into three major parts: The first part seeks to understand the construct of the self from various disciplinal
perspective, the second part explores some of the various aspects that make up self and the first and final part identifies three areas of concern
for young students: learning, goal setting and managing stress.

Course Learning : At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

3. Compare and contrast how the self has been represented across different disciplines and perspectives

9. Understand the theoretical underpinning for how to manage and care for different aspects of the self
10. Acquire and hone new skills and learnings for better managing of one’s self and behaviors
11. Apply these new skills to one’s self and functioning for a better quality of life.
