PROJECT NAME:

STOPWATCH BY USING IC/LOGIC GATES

.

TALHA AHMED.
OVERVIEW :
A stop watch is a device which is used to measure the time between its on and off
.So I and my group mates is going to make digital stopwatch where in the circuit
displaying it from 1 minute to 39 second ,in other In our circuit we are using 555
timer which is used to for clock pulse .Also for that pulse timing we use two
resistors for the timing of required result delay time of 1 second .If we change the
resistance values then the pulse time will be fast because it will count fast than
from real time. Second thing in the circuit is I . c 4510 .This is used for up/down BCD
counter which means it can count up or down depending upon input states .BCD is
stand for binary coding decimal and this IC can read up to 0 to 9 because it have
four inputs so . there is a decoder IC 4511 have four bit binary inputs which is used
to decode the BCD and give the output to 7-segement display.

SECTION OF SIMULATION R BOTH BCD .
• THE INPUT PIN OF BOTH BCD ALWAYS HIGH AS IT IS ONLY WORKING WITH THE CLOCK
PULSE GIVEN BY 555 TIMER THE 9TH PIN OF THE BCD ATTACHED WITH SPDT WHICH WILL
RESET THE CIRCUIT THE 7TH PIN OF SECOND BCD COUNTER IS ATTACH WITH THE MINUTE
ONE IT USE AS WHEN THE MAXIMUM VALUE REACH THEN IT WILL GOES LOW AS AND GIVE
PULSE TO THE NEXT BCD AND 1 PIN IS THE PRESENT PIN WHICH SET THE COUNTER SAME
AS THE INPUT OF BCD AND WITH THE OUTPUT PIN GOES TO DECODER(4511) WHICH TAKE
AS INPUT BUT WITH THE OUTPUT OF BCD THERE IS AN AND GATE WHICH IS WORKING TO
LIMITING THE DECIMAL VALUE ATTACH THE OUTPUT WITH THE INPUT OF AND GATE SO
THAT WHEN BOTH INPUT WILL HIGH WILL RESET THE BCD TO 000
second one we need the output of AND gate to the output of second
BCD up/down counter pin which make high one input of the minute
output all the output goes to decoder inputs. The LT &BT pin of the
decoder is use for the testing lamp test will turn on all the light of
7-segment when it is low and BLIND test will turn on and pin 1,2,6,7
are the 4-bit input data and pin 9 to 15 output pin for 7-segment
display , it have for d-type latches inside the 4511 and at last there
is 7-segment display which is very simple it have 7 inputs called a
to g and it will get light on when that pin input is high.
