Warm up 1 of 2

- Using the penalty box, everyone gets behind the

goal line and starts jogging to the penalty

semicircle line and then comes back to the initial

point.

Repeat while doing:

- Moving arms forwards then moving arms

backwards

- Knees up then heels up

- Front kicks then back kicks

Warm up 2 of 2
- In pairs, everyone jog around the pitch as one

unit

- When the coach makes the call/blows the

whistle, the last pair from the group sprints to

reach the front of the group, then starts jogging

with the unit

- Alternative: as soon as a pair reaches the front,

the next pair starts sprinting

1st Drill: Control the ball

& Passing 1 of 2
- Make groups of five people with one ball and a

set of 6 cones (it also works with four people in

case of uneven number of people)

- Each group split in threes and twos, and they set

a 2-yard gate with the cones, and around 15-18

yards away from each group. And they set the

third cone 2 yards behind the gate. Line up

behind the third cone

1st Drill: Control the ball
Set up

& Passing 2 of 2
KEY INDICATIONS:

- Make sure to attack the ball when you are the

receiving the pass. That’s why there is a gate: you

Example: just after the pass

should sprint a little bit in order to receive the

ball past the gate

- Focus in controlling the ball first, then passing. A

proper control of the ball directly relates to the

quality of the upcoming pass

2nd Drill: Control the ball
Set up

ball ang go to the receiver cone

- Receiver: you receive from the pivot, drive the

ball to the passing cone and then you pass to the

2nd Drill: Control the ball

& Passing 2 of 2
KEY INDICATIONS:
(A)
- The receiver needs to orientate the ball towards

the passing cone and you can do it as you need

to drive the ball. Make sure you receive with your

open foot (if receiving from the left, your right

(B) foot is the open foot – look image A)

- The pivot needs to have in mind your role is like

linking up a one-two (quickly passing in a triangle

position

- Rotate GK in case there is no enough GKs

- Apply offside rule

- Take throw-ins and corners

- Restart from the mid point after a goal

- Attacking team retreat a few yards when

defensive team has a goal kick

Match 2 of 3
ATTACKING REMINDERS:

- Spread wide in the pitch

- Forwards get in the box and/or call for a pass behind

opponent’s back line

- Wingers stay wide, and always try to win yards (driving,

passing, crossing)

- Mids, come closer to the ball. Ideally covering different

heights of the pitch (look at the vertical lines in different

heights from the ball height)

- Defenders push up high, ideally to the middle of the

Match 3 of 3
DEFENDING REMINDERS:

- Stay compact and all over the side where the ball is

going

- Everyone press as soon as you loose the ball. There is

no better moment to win the ball back

- Defensive line stay narrow and dont worry about the

un-attacked wing/side

- Mids commit in constraining passing options rather

than tackling. The moment for a tackle will eventually

come
