Introduction
 Today india is THE OYSTER of global dairy industry. It Offers opportunity in the large number to
entreprenuers worldwide, who wish to capatilized on one of the most largest and fastest growing markets for
animal husbandry and milk industry.
 Indian Dairy Industry is rapidly growing, trying to keep the pace with galloping progress around the world. It
may transfer technology, sign joint ventures or use india as sourcing center for reginal exports.
 A farmer can earn in laks by doing profitabl animal husbandry. It is considered to be an occupation to be an
occupation in which there is less possibilty of loss. New scientific methods have also been developed in animal
husbandry which are beneficial for farmers. Farmers can easily double their income by using aleast scientific
method correctly
 As population increases & as living standard increases the demand for milk, egg & meat is also going up. Also,
the growing awareness of the need of human treatment of livestock has brought in limitation in livestock
farming, Thus livestock needs to be improved.

 The total Livestock population is 535.78 million in the country showing an increase of 4.6% over
Livestock Census2012
 Total Bovine population (Cattle, Buffalo, Mithun and Yak) is 302.79 Million in 2019 which shows an
increase of 1.0% over the previous census.
 The total number of cattle in the country is 192.49 million in 2019 showing an increase of 0.8 % over
previous Census.
 The Female Cattle (Cows population) is 145.12 million, increased by 18.0% over the previous census.
 The Exotic/Crossbred and Indigenous/Non-descript Cattle population in the country is 50.42 million and
142.11 million respectively.
 The Indigenous/Non-descript female cattle population has increased by 10% in 2019 as compared to
previous census.
 The population of the total Exotic/Crossbred Cattle has increased by 26.9 % in 2019 as compared to
previous census.
 There is a decline of 6 % in the total Indigenous (both descript and non-descript) Cattle population over
the previous census. However, the pace of decline of Indigenous Cattle population during 2012-2019 is
much lesser as compared to 2007-12 which was about 9%.

 Cattle Farming – Cattle husbandry is done for two purposes- Milk and draught labour for agriculture work
such as tilling, irrigation and carting. A farmer cab earn upto ₹ 10000 from just 6-7 cows or buffalos profit can
be made through milk, curd, buttermilk, ghee etc. even the cow dung can be use as fertilizer at farm.
 Fish Farming – Fishes are being reared by artificially creating ponds or tanks etc. A person can earn upto ₹
50000 per month in just half acr of place.
 Bee Keeping – Beekeeping doesn’t need any specific area it can be done in farm while cultivating crops as well.
Farmers can generate revenue of ₹10000 without any extra expenses
