English Learning Journal 7 AMERICAN vs BRITISH English **50 DIFFERENCES** By Learn English Lab YouTube Video
This video talks about the major differences between British
English and American English and the video listed 50 out. The video didn’t just have 1 narrator to talk about all about these. There will two people, 1 American and I British, and they sort of argue about which words are which Is right and wrong, and both of them get quite confused about the words. I learnt a lot of interesting knowledge in this video, e.g. eggplants are actually called aubergine in UK, and Garbage Cans are called dustbins in the UK, unfortunately, there are some that are not so right. For example, most people don’t call “Rubbish Guy” dustman. Instead, they call them binman in the UK. Despite this, I still learnt a lot in this video and I enjoyed watching this video a lot because of the funny dialog and interactive narrative is also a very nice addition to an already well crafted video.

English Learning Journal 4 I Tried Beating a Lie Detector Test By BuzzFeedBlue YouTube Video Mike has taken on the task to see if he is able to outsmart a lie detector. He says that people have tried biting their tongue, meditating or even held their breath to try to outsmart the lie detector, but none worked. He eventually tried to sneak an earbud to listen to blast music in one, and there will be a guy saying yes and no words over and over in the other earbud, so Mike will be able to not listen to anything the administrator of the lie detector says. At last, he failed since the earbuds aren’t loud enough and he ended up doing the whole thing the “normal” way. In my opinion, I think lie detectors shouldn’t be actually used in crime fighting since the only thing it does is record your body temperature and heartbeat so if you are nervous or having the ability to stay abnormally calm may affect the results. That does not sound safe at all and in fact numerous innocent people are locked up due to the lie detector. The video is over-dramatic at times but I enjoyed it. I think Mike idea is not very practical since in an actual interrogation, there will be no earbuds to be sneaked in whatsoever. However, it was a nice try but the plan needs improvement. I really enjoyed the video not only because of it being thrilling but I learnt a lot about the lie detector.

English Learning Journal 3 Everything That Will Kill You... From A to Z By CollegeHumor YouTube Video This amazing animation made by the channel CollegeHumor is very humorous yet quite informative and useful in some ways. The main character, a skeleton with a top-hat, uses his “test subject” to tell the audience about different things, ranging from words starting with a-z, which can kill people. The special thing is that the test subject is just having his usual life, just like any person, but the skeleton keeps pointing out things around him that may cause death from him, and from the “test subjects” facial expression we can tell he is getting more and more afraid. This video uses a lot of difficult English words, and it is able to explain these words flawlessly which fits right in the story without looking weird and forced-in. I think the animation style is very special and it uses black and white as its colour, with a 90s style animation, made mostly with rhymes. I really enjoyed this video and I will certainly share it with my friends.

Journal 1 Sherlock: How to Film Thought Youtube video
This video from the channel NerdWriter1 is about how the popular TV series Sherlock, explained a complex and compelling story beautifully in just under 4 minutes, using brilliant camera work, script writing skills and editing skills. It mainly is about how the directors are able to pull of suck a trick that other film directors will struggle to accomplish in an hour. Those 4 minutes presented Sherlock’s drug problems, his guilt of doing so, and his pressure for trying to solve a mysterious case, which led to a conclusion that serial killers may be just hiding in plain sight.
I am really fascinated by this video because I personally really enjoy making scripts for plays, and also like to edit videos. It taught me how to do scripts that are exciting, while able to reveal information to the audience, and contain a sense of suspense. The video also talked about “The Leapfrog Scene Transition” in which the character suddenly realizes the clues or solve the mystery. In my opinion, I think this sort of transition will suddenly get viewers a dose of excitement to see their beloved character “wake up”, and I will really try to learn from that skill and improve my future writing quality. I really enjoyed watching the video and learnt a lot from it.
