ِ ‫﴾اِ َّن َ يُغيِّ ُر َما بِقو ٍم َحتّى يُغيِّ ُروا َما بِانف‬

Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of people until they change what is in themselves.

• This is an important verse which indicates that Allah Almighty does not change the
conditions of people from good to bad or from bad to good, from ease to hardship or
from hardship to ease unless they change their conditions themselves.
• If people change from the state of being good to bad, Allah Almighty will change things
for them with punishment, hardships, calamities etc.
• If people change from the state of being bad to good, Allah Almighty will change their
misery to ease and righteousness because of their good deeds and repentance to Allah.
Pakistani short film Bhai makes it to prestigious Toronto International Film
Festival.

• A short film about two brothers — one who is on the autism spectrum — explores the choices we make,
shame, trauma and brotherhood has just made it to one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world
— the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

• I wanted the film to be on Independence Day, as I was interested in showing a day of celebration but from
the lens of someone who is ostracised from society. What does it mean to be Pakistani, when you are not
afforded the privilege of a place in Pakistani society? How do you celebrate and still find joy and happiness
when there is sometimes so little to be joyful about. Celebration is often about the small things — like a
plate of biryani — and that is what we try and show in Bhai. — Hamza Bangash
Turkeys forest fire continues its destruction

• Nearly 225 fires in 47 provinces consumed the country, leading to

mass evacuations and major destruction. More than 135,000 acres
(55,000 hectares) were burned, destroying forests, homes,
agricultural land and livestock. As of August 9th , only two fires
continued to burn. Eight people were killed by the fires, including
two firefighters.
• Turkey is experiencing its devastating effects more and more
severely with each passing day. Temperatures will continue to rise
and droughts will increase, which will trigger more fires. Therefore,
it is inevitable for Turkey to improve itself within the scope of
combating and adapting to climate change. Forests are now strategic
resources. The country must take all the necessary steps to protect
them.
