Drawing (1)
Technique Description

With colored pencils Also known as wooden or lead pencils.

With crayons Sticks of colored wax.

White crayon ‘resist’ art Draw on white paper using a white crayon. Press
firmly down so you get enough wax on the paper.
Next, brush watercolor over the drawing. The
watercolor will stick to the paper, but will “resist”
the white crayon.

Technique Description

With oil pastels Made with non-drying 


oil and wax.

With charcoal Dry art medium made of finely


ground organic materials.
Charcoal is sometimes viewed as
a preliminary medium for sketching
or drawing before painting.

least 10 minutes.
Use wet chalk to draw
on thick, dark paper.

Bubble painting Mix paint with a bit of dish soap. Blow into the
paint using a straw. ‘Scoop’ bubbles using paper.

before printing onto paper.

Technique Description
Marble painting Place marbles, covered in paint, into a box. Then shake them
up!

Drip painting Form of abstract art in which paint is dripped or poured on
to the canvas. This can also be done by tying a string to the
handle of a paintbrush and holding the string to paint (i.e.
swinging the paintbrush).

Pointillism A technique of neo-impressionist painting using tiny and

Wax resist painting Create a drawing using wax crayons, and then paint over the

Printmaking
Technique Description

String/yarn printing Wrap string/yarn around a piece of wood (or even a


popsicle). Add paint. Use the newly created tool to print on
to paper.

Engraving using Engrave an image onto styrofoam using a pencil. Cover with

Linoleum and Woodcut is a method of printmaking from an engraved


woodcut printing block of wood. Linocut is a variant of woodcut in which a

Collage
Technique Description
Tissue collage Cut pieces of tissue paper (with scissors or by hand). Glue them
onto the page (using liquid glue). Experiment by overlapping
different colored pieces.

Technique Description
Papier maché Mix paper and glue. Or mix paper with flour, and water. The mix
