A Decade of Images

The 1960s
The 1960s

The 1960s were a very significant point in our history and have had a big effect on us to
this day. The 1960s mood was a beginning of great things because many great things
started in the 1960s that have a great impact on modern society like the civil rights
movement which has become very big impact on our society especially in recent times,
the first super bowl which has developed into the biggest sports event in America, the
beatles which changed the course of music in our history, and many more. The type of
photography that was used the most in the 1960s was photojournalism because many
historical achievements and moments happened in the 1960s and it was the job of
photographers to capture those moments.

This is a photo of John F. Kennedy just
before he was shot and killed. This photo
was taken by Abbie Rowe on November
22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas and is an
example of photojournalism. This photo is
a very memorable photo because even
though it seems like a happy and cheerful
photo people still feel sadness when they
see it because they knew what took place
after. This was a very important moment
in history because Kennedy was one of
only four presidents who have been
assassinated and with it being the most
recent makes it very memorable and a
huge moment in American history.

the Ed Sullivan show and a key moment in
history. There were many memorable
artists and music that came out in the
1960s and one of those artists was the
Beatles which are one of the most famous
bands of all time and their music is still
very popular to this day. This is an
example of photojournalism.

This is a picture of Mohamed Ali on May 25,
1965 when he fought Sonny Liston in the

athletes over the years, but one of the most
significant ones was Mohamed Ali because not
only did he have to overcome the struggles of
every athlete to become the greatest, but he
also overcame the struggles of discrimination
and was a civil rights activist. This photo is
important because it captured his greatness and
why he is considered one of the greatest
athletes of all time. This would be an example
of sports photography since it captures a very
memorable moment in sports history

because the civil rights movement was a very
important moment in history and was a step
towards a more just and peaceful world and this
movement was led by Martin Luther King jr.
and you can see him in the photo and he was and
is a huge figure for African-American rights and
this photo captures of a step towards change.
This is an example of photojournalism because it
illustrates the story of the civil rights movement.

photo. The Vietnam war was a big moment
in world history because many soldiers

of the protests and how many people this
impacted.

human race and show how far we've really
come technologically. During this time the
Vietnam war was still happening and this
was an amazing way to finish off the
decade. This is an example of
documentary photography since its a
documentation of something in history.
